I bought this card as an upgrade for my low-profile Asus Radeon HD 6570 [model EAH6570/DI/1GD3(LP), to be exact] for use in my Dell OptiPlex 755. As stated in my review of the 6570, the OptiPlex 755 family has four issues that make it difficult to find a decent gaming card for them: (1) they're built using a BTX form factor and the first expansion slot is the PCI-E x16 slot, meaning that cards with double-wide brackets will not fit; (2) the Desktop (DT) and Small Form Factor (SFF) configurations can only utilize low-profile expansion cards; (3) roughly 1.3 cm to the right of the PCI-E x16 slot, there are several tall capacitors, meaning that video cards with wide heatsink/fan units will not work; (4) the PCI-E x16 slot will not necessarily supply 75W to a graphics card -- according to Dell, it's only specified for 25W operation. What this means for the OptiPlex 755 DT is that only single-wide, low-profile, low-power graphics cards are guaranteed to work.

The Sapphire Radeon HD 7750 Low Profile is an interesting card. It features a low-power example of AMD's Graphics Core Next (GCN) GPU architecture, which draws around 5W at idle and around 55W at load (in comparison, the Radeon HD 6570 draws around 5W at idle and around 50W at load). Within that power envelope, it crams 512 stream processors @ 800 MHz, 32 texture units, 16 ROPs, and 1GB GDDR5 @ 4.5 GHz on a 128-bit datapath. Both theoretically and in the real world, this makes the 7750 about twice as fast as the 6570 within roughly the same power envelope. Finally, the card is low-profile and has a (nearly silent) single-wide cooler. This makes is suitable not only for the OptiPlex 755 DT, but also the SFF and USFF variants.

I am pleased to note that the card works in my system beautifully, with zero power issues noted (the packaging on the card says that it requires a 400W power supply; given the low power nature of the 7750, this is simply not true). There have been no failures to power on, no random crashes, no overheating despite hours of burn-in testing and gaming. As I did with my Radeon HD 6570 review, I will make updates to this review at regular intervals throughout the year to report on how the card is holding up (and if any power problems did manifest themselves). Although the card itself only sports a DVI and a MiniDP connector, Sapphire also packages DVI-to-VGA and MiniDP to HDMI adaptors with the card -- you should be able to connect this card to any monitor you have without having to go out and buy additional adaptors. The card comes with the low-profile bracket preinstalled, but the full-profile bracket is also included.

Finally, let's talk performance. My OptiPlex 755 has a 3.0 Ghz Core 2 Duo E8400 with 6GB DDR2 SDRAM -- very adequate, but not by any means a powerhouse gaming build. The Radeon HD 7750 works wonders in this environment, allowing me to play all my games (Diablo III, Borderlands 2, Skyrim, The Last Remnant, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, etc.) at 1600x900 at max quality with antialiasing on in most cases, all at higher framerates than the 6570 was able to muster even at lower quality settings. The fan is whisper-quiet, and can only barely be heard at load. While it is possible to overclock this card, in the case of the OptiPlex 755 DT I wouldn't recommend it -- I'm not sure how well the power supply and the supposedly-25W-only PCI-E x16 slot would take it. In any case, that shouldn't be a problem -- even at stock speeds this is the fastest card compatible with the OptiPlex 755 DT by a country mile.

The competitors to the Radeon HD 7750 for the OptiPlex 755 DT include the Radeon HD 6570 (much slower), the Radeon HD 6670 (slower), and the Geforce GT 640 (about as fast as the Radeon HD 6670). While there exist exotic low-profile high-performance cards (Afox makes a low-profile Radeon HD 6870, for instance), these (a) do not fit within the physical confines of the OptiPlex 755 DT, (b) draw too much power for the OptiPlex 755 DT's power supply to handle, and (c) are so rare that they might as well not be available anyhow. In summary, this Sapphire Radeon HD 7750 is likely the highest-performance GPU option for the OptiPlex 755 DT/SFF/USFF at this point in time. As such, if you're looking for a gaming card for your OptiPlex, this card comes with my highest recommendation.

2013/08/05 UPDATE:
I am pleased to report no power issues over the last month and a half. I have had multiple play sessions lasting several hours apiece on a fairly regular basis, and the Radeon HD 7750 continues to soldier on like a champ. 1600x900 appears to be a very good sweet spot for this card, at least with the CPU and RAM I'm running. I've been able to run every game I've tried on high settings (max settings in some cases) at this resolution: XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Saints Row: The Third, Batman: Arkham City, X3 Reunion/Terran Conflict/Albion Prelude, The Witcher 2, etc. All of these games play as smooth as silk, without hiccups or stutters.

Interestingly enough, in the interim AMD has released the Radeon HD 7730 -- an even more cut-down version of the same chip that powers the Radeon HD 7770 and 7750. In terms of specs, it's actually a fairly close match to the older Radeon HD 6670: 384 stream processors, 24 texture units, 8 ROPs, and either 2GB DDR3 or 1GB GDDR5. Even with GDDR5 (which uses more power), the maximum TDP on this GPU is 47W -- a close match to the Radeon HD 6670 DDR3 (or 6570). If your computer's power supply is too low-power to handle the 7750 (and you do not have the option of swapping it out), definitely try out the 7730 instead.

2013/10/20 UPDATE:
The card continues to impress. I have had no power issues over this entire period, and with recent driver updates (Catalyst 13.11 beta) I've noticed a sizeable boost in performance in certain games (e.g. Saints Row: The Third, Saints Row IV). I have also experimented with overclocking, and am pleased to report that even fully overclocked (via the Catalyst Control Center), my system is fully stable even under load, and with a tangible across-the-board boost in graphical performance.

There has been some exciting news recently with the reveal of AMD Mantle -- a low-level graphical API for all GCN-architecture cards. It is likely that since the next generation of gaming consoles (Sony Playstation 4; Microsoft Xbox One) both utilize GCN-architecture GPUs, at least some major games will come over PC-side with enhanced performance for cards like this one. If that is the case, then this card becomes a phenomenal investment for the long-term.

Unless something drastic occurs, this will be my final update for this card. It has my highest recommendation for environments in which your power supply, physical space, or both are constrained. It runs 100% stable, even overclocked, on my Dell OptiPlex 755's 280W power supply. Its performance is top-in-class for my particular use case. It is very quiet, even under full load. And in the 4 months that I've had it, it has never once let me down. Thanks for reading my review -- I'm signing off.

Features and Specs:

Since I gave away my Sapphire Radeon HD 5450 to my brother, I got this card instead because its the latest generation of Radeons and its low profile. The package already has the low profile bracket already installed onto the card, with the full bracket under the package. It CAN overclock to 950 MHz GPU clock and 1250 MHz memory clock, so its comparable to other mid-high end cards (but its not really advisable to overclock too much so that it may burn out the card or lower its life). It already comes with a miniHDMI to HDMI adapter (a relief for me...), a miniDP to DisplayPort adapter, and a DVI (male) to VGA (female) adapter. DO USE THE PROVIDED CD, because you will be wasting time if the software from the AMD site doesn't like the card. The Catalyst version on the CD is v12.10. Sapphire, as always, has provided high quality cards at fair prices.


My system specs: Athlon X2 7750 Black Edition @ 2.7GHz, 4GB DDR2 RAM @ 400MHz, 3TB Seagate HDD @ 7200RPM, this graphics card @ 900MHz GPU & 1200MHz memory (defaults are 800MHz GPU and 1125MHz memory), and a 300W PSU. All games played at 1600x900 resolution, 60Hz refresh rate.

It runs COD MW1, MW2, MW3 on max settings, but Black OPs still lags at somewhat high settings since Treyarch sucks at coding its games so that it hogs a crap-ton of resources. It can handle StarCraft II on Ultra settings, Borderlands 2 on max settings, Skyrim at max settings, Fallout 3 and New Vegas on max settings, and Far Cry 3 at medium settings for best performance and graphics details. I could not really put max settings on Vindictus (on Steam, made available by Nexon, and don't bother asking for my Steam name) since high values for anti-aliasing (@ 4x) and texture quality (bilinear, trilinear, anisotropic) would bring down the FPS dramatically.

This card could possibly play all those games I mentioned above in max quality settings if I overclocked the card to the max, but I don't want to.

Final Thoughts:

With my Radeon 5450, I could not possibly have run those games on max settings, with Skyrim on lowest setting, both Fallouts on low-medium and Black OPs was unplayable. Worthy investment if you have a low profile case, and are willing to spend ~$120 rather than spend ~$30-ish for a low-mid end card. Notice that from other reviews, you do not need a "minimum" 400W PSU to use this card. A default 200-240W PSU can be fine. I will update this review if needed.

Needed to upgrade the graphics adapter for a Dell Studio 540 Slim. It's a nice computer but the integrated graphics card is minimal; certainly not powerful enough for 3D games of this time. There's plenty of horsepower there with it's Intel Core 2 Quad, 8 GB RAM, 64bit CPU, and 7200 RPM SATA drive... all bottle necked at the graphics adapter. Sadly the stock power supply unit (PSU) isn't adequate to power a modern graphics card either. So I had to upgrade both at the same time, PSU and gfx card. Also another drawback is the small form factor design (Slim) which makes finding upgrades harder and more expensive.

Did a lot of research because people were having problems upgrading the PSU and GFX card. Something to do with a change in standards from ATX v2 and this model Dell required the previous standard. Most people wouldn't notice the change but this computer in particular was fussy about it. Eventually figured out I needed a "TFX" power supply unit. Thankfully KENTEK makes the correct form factor and ATX standard version power supply! I went with the KENTECK 400 which is a 400 watt PSU and they even advertise it as being compatible with the Dell 540 Slim.

I've had both running now for a couple of weeks and they are great! Worth every dollar. The HD 7750 fits perfectly into this tight case. Power supply fits perfectly and is compatible with the motherboard. Modern 3D games are running faster than I've ever experienced!

My only issue was with the driver and software package for the graphics card. I usually don't bother with the CD provided with graphics cards because there's newer versions of drivers and software available online compared to what was burnt onto that CD months or years ago. So I promptly went out to AMD / ATI's website, got the latest software / driver package for this card, installed it, and rebooted. Was having stability problems and blue screens... disappointing.

Did some research and others had similar problems. Several people advised that you should run Sapphire's software and drivers specifically for that card... not what the chipset manufacturer provides. This is especially true if you have non-standard card like this one; Sapphire has made considerable enhancements and modifications to this card. I installed the software / drivers on the CD and it's been working just fine ever since.

This is an excellent card for the money! If you look at it on Tom's Hardware late 2012 hierarchy of graphics cards it's in the top 10. That's very good for a card that costs about $120! Especially when you look at the prices for cards if you want to get into the top 5 or top 3.

I know this card costs more than the HIS 7750, and you have to use the cable adapters for HDMI and such, but hey, it actually runs off my 240W HP PSU, unlike the HIS version. I have an HP 8100 Elite SFF, and the card is flawless after a week of use.

I recently upgrade from an old old Radeon HD 4650 graphic card on my INTEL SMALL FORM FACTOR, & after 2 weeks of many research I end up getting this Radeon HD 7750 instead of any other that are out there to suit my need for BF3 & Crysis 3 & Far Cry 3 & Need For Speed... This was by far the best graphic card I ever owned for gaming PC everyday and any day, it runs very quite and smooth without any problems on ULTRA to HIGH SETTING... I run it for hours on all my games & even watching movies this graphic card works flawless... This graphic card was among the best top rating for 2012-2013 on all Small Form Factor PC for gaming...

I had the Sapphire HD 7750 Low Profile for a few months now and I am very happy so far. Whether watching Youtube videos or playing the latest games the Sapphire HD 7750 low profile performance is outstanding. If your a gamer on a budget who needs a low profile ,single slot graphics card for a small case system I highly recommend the Sapphire HD 7750 Low Profile.

I got this Graphics card so I can play games on my slim Dell Inspiron 545s, and it has been doing a tremendous job at doing so. I can play most games on a decent frame rate on high, and it doesn't make a lot of noise when i'm playing. I would recommend this for anyone who has a low profile computer and wants to upgrade their graphics card.

My son purchased this to replace the integrated graphics in a Dell Inspirion 660S (slim case). He seems very happy with it; his games have been playing much more smoothly than with the integrated. The box says a power supply of 400w is required, however it has worked with no problems using the Dell PSU of 230w. It really did fit into one slot. Of course, he would have liked a more powereful card, but with the limitation of the slim case (my bad for choosing was a Black Friday deal that I gave him for Christmas), this was the best he could find at a reasonable price.

This card rocks, there is no way for the price point you are going to beat this item. Having made the mistake of buying a slim line low profile PC neglecting to consider the limits of the power supply (220 watts) my choices were few. I would consider myself a mid level gamer at best and this card preforms. Burn in tests with OCCT with 100% load on the GPU, all 4 Cores of the CPU and 98% load on 8 GB for 15 mins at a resolution of 1920X1080 delivered 63-70 FPS and GPU Z reported Temp never exceeding 71C or using more than 71 Watts of the 75 watts Available from the PCI-E 3 slot. This pretty amazing for something a little over the hundred dollar range.

AS a moderate gamer at the resolutions I stated above, I am able to get anywhere between 51-63 FPS in actual gaming life, with the fan never running over 55 % of its speed (about 3200 RPMS, and really quite for that level) and temp peak of 63C straight out of the box and no overclocking which you can do slightly without locking up is downright amazing for its price point.

So short story long...this is why I LOVE IT!

**See 7 Month Update below**
This video card has performed far and beyond what was expected. I've thrown HD Net-flix, HD Amazon, and 1080 Borderlands 2 at it. It gets super loud under strain (max level gaming) as the fan speeds up, but the idea is to bend... not break. Hasn't broken yet. Even still, while watching movies, the VGA hardly makes a peep. It is super quiet on the cool end and under video streaming load. I've only heard it speed up after playing Skyrim (high) and Borderland 2 for more than an hour. I fully expect the fan to die before the card does, but I have no problem replacing the fan.

Quailty is fantastic. As mentioned above, I've hit 1080 when i've needed to. Viewing on my 50" Toshiba, connected via HDMI and a Yamaha receiver.

5.1 Audio channel is smooth and clear via the HDMI micro port and adapter. Less cables, less mess. But be aware, you must have a CPU-mobo capable of handling audio via PCI. Worked for me without fail.

Storage: 120gb SSD primary + 500gb HDD secondary

Had to make some slight modifications on the case to make the CPU fan heatsink upgrade fit, but it was worth it. The VGA card fits without a problem and gets plenty of airflow.

For a Low Profile card, this is the most solid GPU I have EVER owned. I've built ATX cases, Mini ATX cases, and even Frankensteins with parts from around the house. I've purchased top of the line cards, and low end cards. This card has held it's own in every category. I've thrown some pretty impressive games at this bad boy: Borderlands 2, Skyrim (set to ultra graphics and add-on graphics), XCOM, Dungeon Defenders, Team Fortress, Counter Strike GO...

So long as the airflow has been clear, this card hasn't so much as locked up once.
FAN NOISE IS NOT LOUD!!!! Sorry for the caps... but I mentioned early that it was the fan that was loud, it is not. The fan on my Power Supply was what I was hearing and I have since corrected that with a quieter fan (noctua). Under max load, this fans only gets a little bit louder then idle. I was at a LAN Party and did not hear it. GPU temp did not go higher than 75 degrees while playing 3+ hours of Borderlands on max settings.

ADD NOTE ABOUT TEMPERATURE: My CPU fan overlaps the edge of my CPU, and blows air onto the bare side of the GPU (the non fan side). I am sure that this is helping to keep the GPU temperature down. So PLEASE BE AWARE of your build style when buying. A GPU that constantly goes into MAX LOAD will heat up and over time this will lead to failure, i'm sure you're aware of that, so keep that GPU cool even if it means adding an additional fan near the GPU if you are lacking extra airflow. I've seen GPU's heat up so bad that the heatsinks fall right off the board (back when they were using rubber and glue mounts).

I can't recommend this card enough if you are building a Low Profile, compact, game central ITX build.
