5.0 out of 5 stars Great performance on a budget
The Sapphire 5770 1Gb is a really nice card. It delivers outstanding performance for resolutions up to 1680x1050, and you can run most games at full quality at that resolution. You may have to scale back some quality settings in higher resolutions, but only by a bit. For older games you can turn on edge antialiasing and crank the AA up to 24x. The card also offers a...

2.0 out of 5 stars Excellent when it was works
The card no longer working because i got a burning smell and when i opened it up found that one capacitor on the card board was fried.

It has been just 2 years i bought it. Its out of warranty as Sapphire.

The fans can get noisy at 100%, but with the included software you can stop that from happening via the custom fan profile, and honestly, they...

The card also offers a super-sampling anti-aliasing mode, which smooths out the entire screen. It does make the graphics seem a bit less sharp, and there is more of a performance hit than standard multi-sampling AA. ATI has improved the performance and quality of multi-sampling AA to the point that super-sampling seems a bit outdated.

A single 5770 is very close to the performance seen in a 4870. The 4870 has a slight edge in performance. The 5770 has an edge with heat production and power usage, so it evens out in the end. The 5770 also features Eyefinity mode, which allows you to hook up three monitors and span the entire display across the monitors in 3d games. It also scales incredibly well in Crossfire mode with 2 cards, meeting and sometimes exceeding the performance of a pricey 5870 while coming in about 15% cheaper. The fan is surprisingly quiet as well.

One con is the new cooler, which doesn't exhaust hot air from the case like the original 5770 cooler. It pays to have a well-ventilated case.

Awesome vid card, i was concerned at first when i thought it would not fit my rig, but i managed to make extra space, after that my only problem was the temp, not like this card is supposed to run hot, but my cpu was creating alota heat inside, so i ripped the old 80mm fan off my old computer dusted off debree, popped in a new psu popped the card, and slapped the fan to the case side (2 80mm) and Bam! i run a cool 40c idle just like the descriptions, and 50 to 60c under load, Im enjoying this and my new rig, would buy again for Xfire :D!

5.0 out of 5 stars HDMI Graphics card, February 11, 2010

Great graphics card!
Was Working great on XP, and now on Win7.
Using HMDI output for a TV also hooked up to the PC.

Only con is that the pc can only output one sound source at a time. By this I mean that if the sound is to be channeled to the HDMI output, then the pc will not output any sound through the speakers/soundcard.

Other than that, excellent value product!

The fans can get noisy at 100%, but with the included software you can stop that from happening via the custom fan profile, and honestly, they never need to run that fast to keep it cool anyway.

Very disappointed.

Amazing graphics quality, silent operation and built-in HDMI port make this an ideal video card for 1080p resolutions. So far, I've been able to play DIRT 2 and Fallout3 at 1080p with all video settings maxed out. Must buy!

So far so good. Great performance in games. Installation was fast and easy and I have had no driver issues after a few weeks. My only complaint is that it keeps mucking up the dual-monitor configuration. I have it configured with two monitors, one directly connected and the other through a KVM switch. Catalyst regularly wants to make the KVM monitor the primary and either reverts to extending the desktop to the main monitor or disabling the main monitor. This is under Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.

I was going to pick this up, but I am afraid it wont fit in my DellXPS MT435 Mini Case? Does anyone have any idea if this would? If you know the Dell's, they are very compact. Id hate to buy this and find out I dont have the room to put it in there. Ideas? Thanks a lot!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the GTX 260, December 10, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sapphire Radeon HD5770 1 GB DDR5 2DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort PCI-Express Video Card 100283-2L (Personal Computers)
I bought this card in order to replace my GTX 260 on my Home Theather PC. I just built a nice 5.1 surround sound system and i wanted to be able to play my Blu Ray's/ games through my PC with full uncompressed sound. This card worked amazingly well for sound processing but graphics were another story.

Graphically the HD 5770 is actally a downgrade from my old GTX 260 192sp card, even at 720p resolution. My Resident Evil 5 fixed and variable benchmark actually went down about 7 fps a piece, even though i was running the game with 16X AA on the GTX 260 and only 8X AA on the HD 5770. My NBA 2K10 benchmark also went down, making the game unplayable until i lowered some settings.

This card doesn't overclock at all, and i think it is due to the new coolers used. If u have a choice buy the version with the old cooler if u even touch this card. Plus amazon cahrged me a $6 return shipping cost even though i am a prime member. I'm back in the nvidia camp now and this will stay this way for the forseeable future.
