2.0 out of 5 stars Unable to get dual monitor support to work
I had high hopes for this card, but I was unable to get the HDMI port to power a second monitor. I contacted Sapphire who said the port was defective. Kudos to Amazon for the quick shipment of a duplicate, but the same problem existed on that card as well. After trying to get it to work for over a week I gave up and ordered another brand.

I have to choose between this Radeon HD 5670 and the Nvidia Geforce GT 240. After comparing the product features and the hardware, I realized that the HD 5670 could bring much more value for the same price. The support for DirectX 11 is an advantage which the Nvidia counterpart doesn't have, besides the fact it has more cores, more memory bandwidth, a more robust heat sink, better driver support, 40 nm manufacturing process and a higher GPU clock. Furthermore, it doesn't require a powerful power source, so I could kept mine and save an amount of money I would have to spend if I had chosen a Geforce 9800 GTX+.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good right out of the box, August 9, 2010

This review is from: Sapphire Radeon HD 5670 PCI-Express Graphics Card 100289L (Personal Computers)
First thing I should say is I recently upgraded my desktop to Win7 Pro x64. I had Vista before and my comp would crash anytime it did any moderate video processing, so I wasn't worried about a video card. Once I installed 7 and started playing some games, I realized that the onboard GPU just wasn't cutting it. For under $100 this card delivers the goods, its comparable to the nVidia 9800GTX and in one of my games I went from 5-7fps to 40+fps with no tweaking. I just installed the card and turned the comp back on. The software suite Catalyst 10.1 actually works (i've had problems with it in the past) and the card makes my games look amazing and my downloaded vids and movies really shine. If your looking for a budget card and you want to play some newer games this is the card to get in this price bracket. If you can spend $150 then go for the 5770 or the 5870, but for under $100 this card is hard to beat. It runs pretty quiet as well, but the one caveat I have for it is the size, it is a large card. If your computer has a small case, you might wanna measure the case before you buy the card. I love Sapphire products, they are generous with the memory and the aftermarket tweaks really give you the edge in fast paced gaming.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great in a HTPC, June 14, 2010

This is a great little card for use in an HTPC. This replaced a BFG 9800GT in the system because I needed an HDMI output. One thing that surprised me was the lack of a need to hook up a separate power connector to the card. It is hooked up to my 37" Vizio SV370XVT and does a wonderful job running XBMC. It also does a good job running some games, though that's not it's primary use on this system. This card was recommended to me by the guys over at the AVS forums for use in an HTPC.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Card For Limited Case Room, September 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sapphire Radeon HD 5670 PCI-Express Graphics Card 100289L (Personal Computers)
After my old 256MB video card burnt-out, it seemed that I would never be able to find a decent replacement which was short enough to fit in my system. All of the newer cards seemed to fall in the 8" - 8 1/2" range. Due to the placement of a heat-sink on my mother-board, none of these was going to work in my system.

Just when I thought that I would never find a card which would suit my needs, I came a-cross the Sapphire HD 5670. If there is an-other 1GB video card under 8" in length, I was never able to locate it. Obviously, even at 1GB DDR5, this card is not going to perform quite as well as any of the longer cards; How-Ever, I would certainly recommend it to any-body else who - Like my-self - is working with limited space.

One thing which I feel that I should point out is that - While the fan does generally run relatively quietly (As implied by the Arctic Cooling packaging sticker: "Cool and silent") - you will occasionally hear the fan "kick-up" momentarily during periods of intense graphic processing with frequency varying depending on over-all case air-flow. All-So, when considering this card, keep in mind that the height of the fan causes this card to occupy two PCI-E slots rather than one (The Arctic Cooling fan is only available on the Sapphire model of this card - All other versions of this card are to AMD/ATI specifications, and single-slot; So, you still have options if you have less than 8" of space and only one slot to spare).

I have been running this video card for 5 1/2 months now, and have been quite pleased with it. Again, I would recommend this card to any-body working with limited space.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sapphire HD 5670 graphic card PCIe 2.0, February 14, 2011

This review is from: Sapphire Radeon HD 5670 PCI-Express Graphics Card 100289L (Personal Computers)
It's a very good graphic card, very quiet, and only consumes about 75 watts. But I was wrong to buy a motherboard (Asus P5G41C-M) that does not supports PCIe 2.0 (just PCIe), so I'm not using the full potential of this card. So choose carefully!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, January 30, 2011

Fantastic upgrade and so easy. I added it to my HP Pavilion p6270z running Win7 64-bit, took 10 minutes to install, 15 minutes total after downloading and installing new driver package from [...]. Amazing thing about this card is that it doesn't require external power, so all I had to do was open the case, plug it in, close the case, switch the video cable from the existing plug to the plug on the card, and turn the system back on. Once back in Windows, went to [...], downloaded latest drivers, restarted, and now can play World of Warcraft on "ultra" video settings and at 1080p with framerates over 30fps. Same with Bio Shock - setting maxed and at 1080p and framerates well into the 40s. Oh, and as a bonus it's super quiet too, which makes sense as it appears this card was primarily targeted for use in home theater PCs (HTPCs) where noise must be minimal. The card is also pretty small, so I suspect will fit in most standard mid-tower cases, even when (as in the case of the p6270z) the system is using a a micro-ATX motherboard.

I've had this for a couple of days now, but I gotta say it's one heck of an improvement over a Radeon HD4550 with 512MB of DDR2. Don't get me wrong, the 4550 is real nice, but the one issue I had with it, was the fact that it had a fan that was a little noisy for my liking. Maybe the XFX version of that card is like that, I'm not sure, so who knows. Anyway, I had no trouble putting this card in my HP desktop. Mine is a mid-tower, but the fit of the card was just perfect. Once I got things running, I didn't hear a sound from this card. That's how quiet the fan really is. That's one of the best features of this 5670 is how quiet it is, even when I'm transcoding something, I barely hear a thing. My temps never go over 60C, and I find that real impressive. The graphics are very nice. Once you install the driver and CCC software from AMD, then you get to have some fun. If you know what you're doing, you can tweak the Catalyst settings to your liking, and make everything look even better, which is what I did.

Note: If you wanna use the included CD to install the driver and Catalyst, that's fine, but I would strongly recommend going to the AMD website to get the most up to date driver package for this card, and use it instead.

I am definitely glad I got one of these before Amazon ran out of their stock. For the price I paid, I love this card and don't intend on replacing it anytime soon. Definitely recommend Sapphire's version of the 1GB 5670, if you can find it at a good price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good quick & quiet card. Sapphire 'no wait' rebate option is a joke, February 8, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sapphire Radeon HD 5670 PCI-Express Graphics Card 100289L (Personal Computers)
Installed this easily (10 minutes total) into my HP HPE-510t (replacing the stock Nvidia). Win7 experience score went from 5.1 to 7.1 for both graphics numbers. The system was very quiet to start with, and I really can't even detect the fan on the video card. Make sure to remove the previous video driver. I had forgotten this at first, and when the system would go to try to sleep, the hard drive would just keep constantly trying to access something. Once I removed the Nvidia driver, it stopped. Overall, I highly recommend the video card.

As for the 'no wait' rebate, I 'no waited' for over 5 weeks (sent in 31Dec2010, received Amex gift card today, 8Feb2011). The rebate form states that you'll get it faster than 8-10 weeks (which I did), but 5 weeks isn't exactly 'no wait', hence the 4 stars.
