Performance is as expected.

I hope if you need a new card you buy one also and right now getting 4 Free Games with it isn't a bad deal either!!!! .
Antwan
The cards idle at about 36-38C and they can hit a peak of 68C in 3DMark 13 Firestrike.

Outstanding Graphics Card.

*DISCLAIMER* Please check if your fans are spinning, mine weren't had to get a replacement, Amazon replaced it in one day.*

The R9 290 runs all the games on Ultra Settings; I'll give you a test of what I play and the FPS.
World of Warcraft: 90 FPS (in 25 Raid) *Shadows Maxed.
League of Legends: Locked at 60 FPS
BF4: 60 FPS without Mantle ; 90 FPS w/ Mantle
Warframes: Capped at 60 FPS.

You can see the card can run all games at Ultra.
They temperature is also pretty amazing, all the games on Ultra the card will stay at 51C (with good computer air flow)
The aesthetics of the card is BEAUTIFUL. If you have a window case like I do you will find your self gazing at the card, looks as if a space landing station with a launch pad. With a LED Logo of Sapphire that has 3 Modes Blue(Under 50C/Cool) - Yellow (Above 51c to 65C) and Red (above 65C).

Warning: If you see your card at RED Led then you should look at your card for problems.

Here are my computer specs:

MOBO: Asus Crosshair V Formula Z
RAM: 16GB Corsair Veng.
CPU: FX 9590 @ 5.0Ghz w/ Corsair H100i
PSU: RM850 850 WATTS Corsair.
GPU: Vapor X R9 290.
Case: NZXT 820 Full Tower

-Highly suggest this beautiful card for anyone with a window case, super cold, and can even be more powerful if you Crossfire with another R9 290 can destroy charts.

It looks like the mining phase is dying down and AMD cards are going back to ~MSRP prices, so that's good.

This card's got a pretty much custom PCB as compared to the reference and a strong backplate. It is very long, however.

If you're worried about having other than reference design and having trouble hooking up your cooling system, I say its not even worth it. I have yet to this this get over 60C under a full load and only at 45% fan!

So until the 'x' version comes out, this is hands down the best third party R9 290 you can buy.

First off here are my system specs:
CPU-Intel sandy bridge 2600k @ 4.6 ghz
Motherboard- Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z (RoG)
RAM- Ripjaws X 1600 16GB
Graphics Card- AMD R9 290 Vapor-X @ 1103/1505
Graphics Card 2- AMD R9 Vapor-X @ 1103/1505
PSU- Antec High Current Pro 1200W modular
Cooling- Corsair H100
Case- Thermaltake Level 10 GT
Monitor- ASUS 27inch 1440p Monitor

As you can tell my motherboard is PCIe 2.0 and the processor isn't the newest. I don't feel any performance issues but I am sure I could get much closer to 290x figures with a new board and proc. That being said the performance gain over my SLI GTX680s is significant. The primary reason for upgrading was the VRAM limit on my 2GB GTX680s. I was impatient and snagged a couple reference 680s at launch. I can verify that these 290s use Hynix memory and I do not have any black screen issues. The cards idle at about 36-38C and they can hit a peak of 68C in 3DMark 13 Firestrike.
Here are the 290 Crossfire results for 3DMark 13 (small overclock):
[...] 15781 Firestrike 1.1
Here are the results with the reference GTX680s in 3DMark 13:
[...] 11161 Firestrike 1.1

The only Con I can think of is the size of these cards. They are very long and they take up practically 3 slots.
Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and I no longer have any VRAM stutter in any game.

My PC Gaming Rig specs:
Intel Core i7 2600K OC @4.7Ghz + NZXT Havik 140mm CPU Cooler
Asus P8Z68 DELUXE-GEN3
G.Skill Ripjaws X 8GB Memory RAM @2133Mhz
OCZ SSD Vector 128GB + Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD

Case Cooler Master 690 Advanced II (Max VGA Card Length 304mm)
Asus VS238H 1080p Monitor
Windows 8.1 Update 1 x64 + AMD 14.4 WHQL Drivers

General: This Card is Awesome! It runs Cooler and quieter than i expected, the card and the Sapphire LED looks cool, and match with the color(Black&Blue) of my Motherboard :D. The UEFI Bios give you a plus of boot up speed, if you have a SSD, it boots up your OS almost immediately (8sec). I like the Back Plate it really helps keeping the Card Cool. I had a little trouble to get it fits on my CM 690 II.

Temperature/Overclock: while gaming, stays between --> Stock clocks @ 58C / Overclocked @ 62C, Idle state stays in 32C, my room's temperature was 21C. The Card at Stock Clocks runs very well, I overclock it to 1100 CoreClock / 1500 MemoryClock ---> GPU Temp 62C and the VRM Temps 55C , FAN Speed 55% while gaming and it gives you 10% more performance. I use MSi Afterburner 3.0.1 to get it OC, make sure you select unlock overclocking "without Powerplay support" and set the unlock voltaje control option to "reference design" to get the most performance of the card.

Gaming Performance: OC @ 1100CC/1500MC - 1080p & Max out Ultra Details Settings:
-Battlefield 4, avg 90 FPS
-Watch Dogs: with SMAA Temporal avg 65 FPS (14.
