Well crafted story with fascinating characters that pull at your emotions. A real page turner with lots of twists and turns and many surprises along the way.

April 13, 2001 Palisade, Minnesota USA This is going to be an odd review about Jim Henry and his books. The two out so far are tops! My comments are about Jim and Jean. You see, I was their neighbor in Sarasota for five years. We became friends and they graciously let my two children swim in their pool. Once Jim took underwater photos of them in action. At one time, I filled in for their regular housekeeper and learned the routine of the Henry household. As Jean was leading me from room to room pointing out what should be done, she stopped at the door to Jim's office and said, "Best to leave that one alone." I peered at his desk from time to time noticing that he read adventure books. One year they made a trip to Australia and I watched their house and fed the cat and dog. Jean got me a cup from Giordelli's in San Francisco. Thoughtfulness was a common trait between us. Later on, I moved away to Sweden, then Wisoconsin and I now live in Northern Minnesota. I learned Jim was writing a novel or two and I always figured they would be good. I'm guessing that Sins of Pearl will be a best seller! Sapphires is a fast paced adventure and more. While telling a good story, Jim Henry also excels at forcing us to think, but without moralizing. Nevertheless the points are clear. You might have to rethink some of your beliefs about war, drugs, and the dehumanization of some of our "sacred" institutions. A thought provoking read!
