A GREAT compilation,
By Katie (MI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sara Evans Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Now this is a true Greatest Hits. Sara captured our hearts 10 years ago and now she rewards us with a flawless GH cd. All the hits are here: "No Place That Far", "Born To Fly", "Suds In The Bucket", "A Real Fine Place To Start", "I Could Not Ask For More" and many more. The four brand new songs are excellent too. "As If" is a fun upbeat song with feel-good energy. "Pray For You" is such a sweet, touching song. "Some Things Never Change" is a mid-tempo song and it has the potential to be a radio hit. "Love You With All Of My Heart" is another fun song that would also fare well on radio. I've been a Sara fan for many years because she never disappoints. Her voice is fantastic, her song choices are impeccable and she always delivers flawless cds. I would highly recommend this cd. Any fan, whether country, country-pop or traditional, will appreciate this effort. Good job Sara!

A real fine place to start, but. . .,

It's hard to argue the logic of the song choices here; all of the previously-released ones were hits. But I do agree that FOUR new songs is a bit much, when there are other, admittedly less-successful singles that could have been included. For a casual fan, this single disc compilation will probably do just fine.
BUT, if you really like these songs, you should go ahead and get Sara's entire catalogue. Three Chords and the Truth, her debut, is probably the most underrated country album of the past decade. And there were a few singles, even if they weren't big hits. It is her most traditional-sounding country disc, although she certainly achieved more success with crossover material like "Perfect" and "Born to Fly." And even though I have all five of her albums, I picked this one up for the new songs. And because Sara Evans remaains one of the brightest stars in today's music--country or otherwise.

Greatest Hits?,
This review is from: Sara Evans Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I love the voice of Sara Evans, and her songs are among the best of modern country. That said, I have a problem with this release. My definition of a Greatest Hits CD is one that includes only the best songs from previously released CDs. In this case, not a single song from her debut CD (Three Cords and the Truth) was included. Considering that she wrote 7 of the 11 songs on that release, I find it hard to believe that she did not consider any of them one of her best. She had 59 songs to choose from her previous CDs, but only chose 10. While the 10 chosen are quite good, I would have preferred four more from past releases. I suppose the point is to encourage fans that already own the previous CDs to purchase the Greatest Hits CD as well. It is incredible arrogance (or simply greed) to include four new songs on a greatest hits CD. Those songs should have been included on her next release. If they stand the test of time, put one or more on a Greatest Hits Vol. II.

After listening to Sara Evans perform at the 2007 White House Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony I went home and ordered every one of her CDs (I'm listening to "Born To Fly" as I write this) and I am playing them constantly. I can't explain what it is about her music that is so different, but you'll understand when you hear it yourself. I just love her voice and the "feeling" that transcends her words. I'm not a huge country fan and am selective about the country CDs I buy, so if that tells you anything I think you'll really love her music... I just feel so good listening to it. I hope this helps you decide to give her a try!

Amazing!!!!!,
This review is from: Sara Evans Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Okay, I'm a fan of Sara Evans, not a huge one, but a fan none the less.
I bought "A Real Fine Place To Start" and her Cracker Barrel exclusive "Feels Like Home". "A Real Fine Place To Start" was good but seeing as how i own about 25 Cd's, it wasn't the best in my collection. "Feels Like Home" was "okay", sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not. Just okay. So, I kinda was losing faith in Sara Evans. Then... I bought her new Cd, "Greatest Hits", and I tell you, it's all in the name. This Cd is amazing. It doesn't have songs that sound so old you grandparents recognize them, and it doesn't have mostly newer songs. It has all of Sara Evans Greatest Hits. All the songs sound new and fresh, even though some are 10 years old. On some greatest Hits Cd's, you can tell how old some of the songs are, but not on this one. This Cd is amazing....period, end of story. So, I highly encourage Every country fan to go out and buy Sara Evans new CD, "Greatest Hits."

I have ALWAYS been a big Sarah Evan's fan, own all the cds and can never get enough of her beautiful voice. I also live and breath Dancing with the Stars, which she showed true courage and strength on, not only in her balancing of her family and her ex-husband's (now, Thank GOD)problems, but in the dancing itself. She is multi-talented and glows from the inside out. She seems like she would be your best friend, neighbor and all around terrific person. She is easy to relate to and has NOT let fame go to her head. She is a REAL women who is grounded and her kids are lucky to be able to call her MOM! Keep up the good work Sarah, your fans will continue to pray for your rest and solitude in your future endeavors. Keep singing beautiful music (love the new ones too)... God will see you through.

Good "GH" selection,

Somebody above complained that "Three Chords & The Truth", "Crying Game",& "Backseat Of A Greyhound Bus" should have been included- but since those songs charted at 44th, 56th, and 16th on the country charts, that means they weren't Sara's 'greatest hits', and thus weren't included.
The four new songs- "As If", "Love You With All My Heart", "Pray For You", and "Some Things Never Change" are good. I can see "As If" going top ten. Album photography is very nice as well.

I bought this CD because it has all the Sara Evans songs that my mother and I hear on our favorite country music station. I like having peppy music in the car when I'm traveling. I think my favorite Sara Evans song is "Born to Fly".
