5.0 out of 5 stars I loved this book!
I read this when I was somewhere between 10 and 12 years old, and I absolutely loved it! I could relate to this too, because I had a friend like Sara growing up. She wasn't perfect, a little rough around the edges and we had some fights, but in the end she was a true friend, like the Sara in the book.

2.0 out of 5 stars A point here and a point there and a lot of [nothing] in between
I think this story is pretty stupid. I picked it up thinking it would be good and it wasn't. It is not. Sara is absolutely horrible to her little sister. She makes way too much mischeif. But you can understand why she says some of the things she says. I would not recommend this book unless you like books that scare you and make you check ahead to let you know...

5.0 out of 5 stars The wildest summer Emily ever had, thanks to tough Sara!, June 27, 1998
By A Customer
Emily, a young girl is going through a hard time during the summer,....that is until she meets Sara! Sara is a tough girl that just moved from New York and makes friends with Emily. Emily's mother isn't to pleased with the organization and "style," that Sara is living in. Sara doesn't let anyone tell her what to do and she always has a clever come back to anything that comes her way. Emily is happy for she is 5'8 and Sara is 5'9. People are always making fun of Emily and her height. She looses her friend Maggie to some boy crazy teen queens which are supposedly all mother's dream daughters, the kind that goes for make up and that kind of stuff.Read this book and you'll see all the surprises with the danger and the wildness that comes with this book!

3.0 out of 5 stars Sara's really a bad influence for all of us!, June 16, 1999
By A Customer
Mrs. Sherwood, who is Emily's (narrator) mother and some of us agree: Sara Slater is a bad influence. The girls are 12, and Sara teaches Emily how to smoke. Sara teaches her to trick Sara's little sister. And when Emily stands up to her bad influence, they fight. And Emily's a good child. Sara's just a bad influence for all 12-year-old girls who may read this.
