Sara is Infectious..... I Dare You Not To Sing Along!,
By Shelly Rae "Music & Books = Life" (New England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sarah Buxton (Amazon MP3 Exclusive Version) (MP3 Download)
I was introduced to Sarah Buxton's music when Keith Urban covered her haunting ballad..."Stupid Boy". Keith reoognized the talent in this singer-songwriter and a whole bevy of Keith Urban fans took notice. Stupid boy brought me in but when I listened to "Innocence" I was hooked. Sarah's voice is interesting and often reminds me of Stevie Nicks, there is a texture to her vocals that is so easy to listen to! Sarah finds the balance of fun sing-a-long songs (Outside My Window & That Kind of Day, Radio Love)to meaningful songs full of well crafted lyrics. (Stupid Boy, Innocence, For Real) Nashville is full of talented musicians that have to work for years to be "discovered". I'm so thankful that it's FINALLY Sarah's time! Give this CD a try...it IS country but many songs could be any genre and I think it will please all kinds of music fans. (* One last note Jedd Hughes....sings on three tracks with Sarah and they sound great together!)

Sarah Buxton is AMAZING!!!!,
This review is from: Sarah Buxton (Audio CD)
You will not regret purchasing this album - no matter what the cost. I rarely buy a CD and listen to the entire album without having to skip over a song or two (or 3 or 4...) that I absolutely cannot stand. That is not the case with Sarah's Advance Album. From the first to last track, Sarah has created an amazing album for any music lover (you don't even have to like country music to love Sarah). It's a shame that her label hasn't released her albums....Sarah's music is simply AMAZING!

Buxton's Safe But Long Anticipated Debut,

Prime Cuts: Innocence, Space, Wings
Good things come to those who wait. After being vacillated around by the politics surrounding her record label, Buxton's perdurance is finally rewarded with the release of her full-length album. Though she was signed to Lyric Street Records in 2006, her CD was consistently been shelved as each subsequent single released failed to make a decent dent on the sacrosanct country charts. Finally as a compromise a digitally released EP was release to satiate the demands of edacious fans. Yet, Buxton has not been foreigner to the top tier of the charts: as a songwriter, she has penned Keith Urban's top 5 hit "Stupid Boy." But the problem is that she yet has to make such an achievement herself. But thanks to her latest single "Outside My Window," it has finally cracked top 25 of the country charts. Yet, it does not mean that Buxton has not tried. In fact her blueprint is quite evident on this CD, she has experimented with 5 different co-producers (Dann Huff, Blair Daly, Bob DiPero, Craig Wiseman and Buxton herself) hoping just to find that elusive smash record. Also, she has enlisted a whooping 16 top Nashville songwriters (including Lari White, Jedd Hughes, Georgia Middleman, Victoria Shaw and Gary Burr) hoping that she could strike the right combination in unlocking a hit. After her arduous efforts, how does the CD sound? In her desperate attempt to secure a hit record, many of these songs are safe meaning that they are tailored made for today's country radio. So, you can expect an overproduced pop-rock sound with snarling guitars, bombastic drums and the occasional fiddle over empowering anthemic tunes. Album opener "American Daughters" hits all the right buttons--an all-American kicking charmer about embracing life to its max is sure to evoke warm feelings of empowerment and patriotism. While "Outside My Window" is a guitar heavy smoking paean of Beach Boys-esque fun. Its hooky "lah lah lah" tag will definitely float in your head for days and days to come. Perhaps most the most incessantly catchy number is "Radio Love" which tells of how a tune of radio got Buxton dancing and forgetting about her troubles. With lyrics that touch on her "fat" legs in tight jeans and a lady that "flipped me the bird," "That Kind of a Day" sounds like a sizzling conversation between girlfriends is sure going to resound with Buxton's teenage girl fans. Nevertheless, the ballads are the highlights. They reveal something more intimate about Buxton. The acoustic guitar driven "Space" is a heartbreaking song about a guy who wants to keep a distance when intimacy sets in. A song that is so truthful and realistic in today's superficially thin society that it will certain choke up emotions to those who have had been hurt by love before. Buxton continues to explore her boy-problems with "Stupid Boy" - this time as an outsider looking in at a relationship ruined by a controlling boy. Buxton's raspy almost Stevie Nicks vocals put a ring of believability that is missing from Keith Urban's hit version. Reminiscing of Deana Carter's "Strawberry Wine," "Innocence" is a haunting descriptive ballad that triumphs on its nostalgic lyrics. It's also the most country tune on the set. "Wings" takes a recess from all the heartbreak as Buxton joins Australian Jedd Hughes on a pop lushful love song. Perhaps the major weakness of this CD is that it's far too safe. The only excursion is the full duet with Jedd Hughes "Big Blue Sky" which has a more stripped down bluegrassy feel. But the rest of the disc is just extremely busy pop-country. Nevertheless, in such a competitive market where an artist is dropped like summer flies, it's hard to blame Buxton. Her ballads, in particular, are worth checking out. Indeed, good things await those who wait.

The Wait it Over,
By Music Guy 7 "Music Guy 7" (Nashville, TN) - See all my reviews

Sarah Buxton has waited for this release for a long time - and for those of you who purchase it - the wait was worth it. Sarah is such a uniquely talented singer and a breath of fresh air. The tracks "RADIO LOVE", and current single "OUTSIDE MY WINDOW" are catchy songs - you will not get tired of. Radio Love is a GREAT summer song. "SPACE" is a gritty believable break up song as is "STUPID BOY" (the Sarah co-written track Keith Urban recorded and have a big hit with. EVERY track is worth the purchase. BUY THIS ALBUM!

Incredible debut album!,
By Eric (Sunny, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sarah Buxton (Audio CD)
Sarah Buxton makes feel-good music. Her debut (full-length) album was many years in the making. The album starts off with the patriotic American Daughter. Outside My Window is a testament to optimism and prophetic as a "beautiful song you can sing along to". Who hasn't called a radio station and requested a song for someone special? Radio Love brings that to life and you can't help but sing along. Real Love, Wings, and Love Like Heaven are what I call "relationship songs" with great lyrics which also show the versatility of Sarah's voice. For all of the positive, fun music on this album, it wouldn't be a great country album without some emotion. Close your eyes and listen to Space and you can almost see the breakup happening. Track 8 evokes a young woman's memories of "stealing (Strawberry?) wine from my pa...first love, one time Innocence". That Kind of Day gets your feet tapping again and I'm guessing every woman would be able to relate to her day. Stupid Boy describes a woman on the negative side of a controlling relationship. The album closes with a beautiful duet with Jedd Hughes of a couples blossoming love. Check out a live performance with Sarah and Jedd, [...]
Having enjoyed Sarah's music for a few years now, I'm happy she has finally gotten the opportunity to release this collection of songs. What makes this album great is the range of music. It isn't just happy love songs or sad breakup songs but the whole roller coaster of emotions. You don't get this type of versatility from country artists anymore. Overall, this is one of the best country debut albums I've ever heard.

Sarah Buxton's self titled debut album is a hit. You go from fun, upbeat songs like "Outside My Window" to sweet songs like "Wings." Really good cd. Would recommend for everyone who likes country. Great job, Sarah!

I waited forever for this album to come out. I bought it the day it did and thought i would love it, but I only thought it was average. Her voice has a strange squeaky/rough quality that first struck me as unique but which now gets on my nerves after listening for more than a few songs. Other than "Outside My Window" and "That Kind of Day," I thought the songs were bland and boring as well.

You think you have heard it before but nothing is more wrong because its unusual to hear real countrypop.Sarah Buxton is very talent singer/songwriter in the genre countrypop. She is the original and all the songs will be countrypop-classics.
It starts with "american daughters" a midtempo song with strong female voice of sarah."Outside my Window" was written for another artist but nobody can does this song better than Sarah Buxton(Hello Carly Simon!!)."Radio Love" is not another "Radio LadyGAGA". Radio Love is the best song i have heard since "When im gone" with Bryan Adams.Sarah sings rhe duet with Jedd Hughes."For Real" is like strawberry fields forever in 2010 and im really in love with this record."Wings" is the song Paul Mccartney didnt write with his group."Love Like Heaven" is the followup if american daughters will be the next single. The harmonica are doing this song. You need little "space" when you are listen to this track.the space will be better you more you listen."Innocence is a fine ballad that should be a good soundtrack for american pie 14 in the presence of my future dreaming."That Kind of day" is like Radio Love but this similar song is a good song with harmonica.Dont be a "Stupid Boy".Go and get this phemomenal cd at amazon.com and you will not miss the last song on the best album this year.

The songs are honest and many of them are also fun (e.g. cowboys and outside my window). Her unique voice shines through all the songs which makes it a "on of a kind" album! This album is really worth the money and because it's Sarah Buxton's first album buying the album can be a sign of showing that she's on the right path :-)
