Is it wrong that I get drunk while watching 'Intervention' and eat fast food to while watching 'Big Loser'? I'm always screaming at the screen...."Oh no you didn't! You better get your act together, before you wreck yourself". Oh, the irony.

intervention episodes are meant to help others look into addiction and to view the real aftermath of substance abuse in action over time. It is very real and has an impact to stop future users. Although the show takes pride into new intakes, some addicts know the surprise of the documentary all too well because they have viewed the show. Either way the addict has to know the reality of their situation and face their fears.

Intervention on AE Tv has helped me find my career path and helped heal myself and others.

I enjoy this show so much, not only because it paints a realistic picture of what addictions look like (especially in the latter stages of the decease) but it also gives hope that change is possible.

IMO, the one of the most important statement that I have heard during any of these episodes is: Drugs (insert drug or alcohol of choice) are not the problem; it is the solution to the problem in our lives. Addiction is all too often a two headed monster. Just by getting clean and cutting off the one head, the second head is still there and all too often it continues to eat away at our insides giving the first head time to grow back. It does not matter the degree of the problem or the form it takes. If it is a problem for me, then only I can solve it and picking up is not the answer, though, all too often it is the singular response to all the past and present suffering.

I have hope but put faith in a higher power. For me that is God, for others it is what it is. I have chosen to live today to the fullest because tomorrow may never come and that is okay today.

This show reveals the family dynamic involved in addiction. I found myself very moved by everyone's story. It helps to show addiction and the codependency surrounding. The more people get educated about their behavior around the addicted person the better chance for recovery. That is a powerful message. Especially revealing of the life threatening aspects of codependency- helping someone into their grave (unconsciously). I think this is a must see for anyone who has had any kind of obsession dominate their life.

I believe that these interventions with adults and teens can help those wanting a better lifestyle, anyone that has a problem with a family member or friend can get an intervention together for alcoholics or drug users and try to make that person see the light of day, sometimes it takes going back to treatment several times.
