About the Author

Leisha Kelly is the author of several popular historical fiction books, including Julia's Hope, Emma's Gift, and Till Morning Is Nigh. She has served many years on her local library board, continuing to bring good reads and educational opportunities to her community. Once a waitress, café manager, tutor, and EMT, Leisha is now a busy novelist and speaker who is active in the ministries of her church. She lives with her family in Clayton, Illinois.

I looked forward to this book and was disappointed at the same time. I desperately hated to see the Wortham's story come to an end. I love this family and have since I first read 'Julia's Hope' which was the beginning. It was so good to see Franky's character explored and put to words in this book. I always liked this kid when I first met him in the first book. He just seemed so downtrodden and overlooked by his own family and they seemed to have no idea what a terrific kid he was. Well, that has changed now. Franky is a wonderful person and a wonderful Christian. He is such an asset to the church he attends and I absolutely loved that he was asked to preach some for the church! Of course, I knew they would ask him. He is so humble in his walk with the Lord. Sarah is so incredibly blessed to have Franky as a husband because he will always take care of her and love her as Christ loved the church. Any woman would love to be loved by a man like Franky. He has taken all the hurts dished out to him as a child and built them into an incredible man with such empathy for others. He has such wonderful discernment, too, into other people.
I would dearly love to see another book in this series, just to see how everyone is doing. I hated so very much to see it end. If you haven't read any of these books, run to the bookstore and get them. You won't regret it.

Ms. Kelly's series of books have been really interesting to read about the two families growing up together. How they related to each other. Faced the depression, World War 11 and it's tragedy, and still kept their faith in God and themselves. They were always there when they were needed by others in their local community.

This book is actually the 7th book in a series following two families (neighbors) during the depression in rural Illinois and how their lives intertwine. Begin with Emma's Gift and you will be hooked for sure.
