If you are looking for a good clingy plastic food wrap, steer away from this product. This wrap does not function contrary to what is advertised on the box. It does not stick to glass, nor does it stick to itself even if you pat it down.

I highly recommend the following products instead. These brands' food wrap provide strong, instant cling for a tight seal:
- Reynolds plastic wrap
- Kirkland (Costco brand) plastic food wrap
- First Street (Smart & Final brand) plastic food wrap

I believe this wrap is created from LDPE plastic. SC Johnson does not disclose this on the box or on their website, but this appears to be the consensus around the web.

LDPE plastic wrap by itself is not clingy (does not stick to bowls or plates at all), so SC Johnson has added a "cling agent" to the wrap. Some other manufacturers have attempted to solve the lack of cling in LDPE wrap by adding edible adhesive (eg Glad Press-n-seal).

The older style of plastic wrap (made from PVC) is very clingy, and does not require a "cling agent." Unfortunately it is bad for the environment and also probably leaches chemicals into food. This is the main motivation for LDPE plastic, which appears to be safer in both regards. It is the reason I went out of my way to purchase this product. Even with the addition of the cling agent this wrap still does not stick as well as PVC-based plastic wrap, however it is still perfectly usable.

I find the "cling agent" a little dubious. SC Johnson does not discuss on the box what the cling agent contains, and a search of their website did not reveal any further information. It is hard to determine whether something is safe, when you don't know what it is.

Overall, I would give this wrap 5 stars if not for the presence of the cling agent. I removed 1 because I would like to see some information about what it is, so I can decide whether I feel it is safe.

I wonder why so many companies are so dedicated to the concept of "new and different" that they turn their backs on even basic common sense? This company is one of them. They need to find someone in their company that has a few brains. Maybe they can find one in their shipping or janitorial dept.

Just in case they ever look here, I'm going to spoon-feed it to them.

Hey, Dweebs: PUT THE CUTTING STRIP ON THE BOTTOM, not the top! Everyone else puts it on the bottom. We rip aluminum foil downward. We rip the waxed paper downward. It works better because the bottom has more support and stability. The lid is floppy. It rips unevenly if it rips at all.

There. I hope the words weren't too big, or the sentences too long.

Except for the advertising, all the cling wraps are pretty much the same. Handi-Wrap was the best, but it's long gone.

Having looked at all the usual grocery and hardware stores to no avail for my Saran Wrap Premium Wrap, in desperation thought, try Amazon. I was pleasantly suprised and please with the last dozne rolls of Saran Wrap I ordered. I'm stocked for 6 months but atleast I have access to such a superior product. All other plastic wraps I was forced to used as a substitute were horrible. THank you Amazon for carrying my favorite Saran Wrap brand. No problem with a dozen, at least I have it, don't have to spend endless hours on wishing I could find it, I know where to go.
Very satisfied,
Lightning

This product is on a downhill slide. The brand used to be synonymous with quality. Now, it promotes "Great Value!" as if that was more important than quality. But, here's where Saran Wrap (an SC Johnson Family Company)deserves the "Shi**y (tt omitted) Product Award - for its packaging! On the lower quality SKU, Saran "Cling Plus" box, they have the audacity to show an ad for their less lower quality SKU, Saran "Premium Wrap." This is confusing to consumers, and I believe it is intentional. I would suggest purchasing another brand, to help teach SC Johnson & Son a lesson in consumer behavior.

I purchased this from Amazon Warehouse Deals so I knew it might not be 100% and could live with one problem But the ends of the box fell apart and the double sided tape to hold the wrap in place was on the top of the box not under the metal cutter bar So the wrap would roll back into the box Plus the wrap is very wrinkled like it has been stored in a hot warehouse I would have kept it if it had one problem but not three

Saran brand plastic wrap is normally pretty decent, but the slide n cut bar that they have on the latest packages is an atrocity probably illegal under the Geneva Convention. It is pretty much impossible to get the slide bar to cut any plastic wrap and utterly infuriating. The normal blade that's usually on these boxes is replaced with the bar, which makes cutting plastic wrap more difficult than giving a cat a bath. Avoid the slide n cut bar at all costs, I ended up using scissors.

Yes, saran wrap is the best so when they stopped carrying it at my store (Meijers), I tried all of the other brands with dissappointment at every turn. I thought, why not try online. So glad to have found it on amazon, and I don't mind buying a dozen at a time as this is probably less than a year supply for me. How can you go wrong?!
