5.0 out of 5 stars Sasha, My Friend, March 27, 2002

This review is from: Sasha, My Friend (Paperback)
Sasha, My Friend is a wonderful story about wolf/dog and the youngster who becomes his constant companion. The book is spellbinding to a school age child, and it stands out as the most marvelous book of my elementary school years. The book is well written, full of adventure, and unpredictable. I would recommend Sasha, My Friend highly, without reservation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book., August 24, 2010
This review is from: Sasha, My Friend (Paperback)
I read this book when I was in 5th grade (oh, way back when!), and I've recently reflected that it was the first time I ever realized that a book could affect me emotionally and make me cry. It opened up something inside me that I didn't know existed. While I'd forgotten the details, it's the emotions I remember.

5.0 out of 5 stars A FOND MEMORY, April 13, 2011
This review is from: Sasha, My Friend (Paperback)
I am 42 years old. I read this book in 5th grade and I too remember it fondly.I just now did a search for it while discussing the pet dog that I named after this book with my stepdaughter who just turned 13. I also was deeply affected by this book and was surprised to find that a book copyright 1973 was still available. And I was pleased to find so many "kindred spirits".

They go and they move to the beauty of Montana where everything is new. at first she hated the move but once she found a little white wolf puppy in the forest who's mother was dead, who she named Sasha and he begins to bring her father and her together, and she makes friends. But some people are against wolves and want to kill Sasha, CAN HALI PROTECT HIM? TAKE MY ADVISE AND READ THE BOOK,YOU WON'T BE SORRY, ALL OF BARBARA CORCORAN'S ANIMAL BOOKS ARE GOOD.

This review is from: Sasha, My Friend (Paperback)
It all happened so quickly. Hallie and her mother and father had lived comfortably and happily in California. Hallie had loved everything about her life. And then her mother was killed in an accident and her father injured, so much so that the doctor recommended that he go away. And so they were on a Christmas tree farm in Montana. Instead of a pleasant school, Hallie only had correspondence courses; instead of many friends, she had only crippled Birdie and the old Indian, Black Thunder.

Yet it all seemed worth it after Hallie found Sasha. He was a wolf pup whose mother had been killed by hunters. He was like a dog, at first and even after he had almost matured. He was company.

The author has made the lonely magic of the Montana wilderness as alive and acceptable to the reader as it became to Hallie.
