What A Great Book!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sasquatch (Hardcover)
I think that this was a great action filled book. I couldn't put it down. When I first started reading this book I really got into it. What this book is about is the Sasquatch. The Dad in this story goes hunting with some of his bodies at work, when he gets his first look at Sasquatch. After that he becomes interested and fasinated about the creature and wants to learn more. His son is pulled along on this crazy adventure. He son doesn't believe his dad until he gets his own look at the massive creature. This book is an awsome Science Fiction and I suggest it to anyone that likes to sit down and read a good book.

This book is an unpredictable first-rate thrilling adventure,

I loved this book. If you like unpredictable books, you'll like this. It's an adventure involving the myth, the good guy that turns bad, the real good guy, the bad guy, the suspicious one, and the kid who weaves them together. If you like Philip Pullman's The Golden Compass and The Subtle Knife, you'll love this! Pullman's books are similar to Smith's, but Smith's are easier to follow and Pullman's are a higher level of reading. This book is definitely near the top of my list.

An exciting adventure based on three Northwest legends!,
By
This review is from: Sasquatch (Paperback)
A 5th grade teacher in our school read "Sasquatch" to her class at the beginning of the school year, and suddenly it become the most requested book in our elemementary school library...the only problem was, we didn't have any copies...yet.Now that we have few copies, it's still one of our most requested books. Roland Smith has done an excellent job of weaving together three famous Washington State legends, the state where we live, into one extremely exciting adventure, that keeps building up to the very end. Two of those legends are--obviously--the Sasquatch and Mount Saint Helens, but you'll have to read the book to discover the third. To tell you now would spoil 1/3 of your fun in reading this thrilling book. Whether you consider this title realistic fiction or fantasy will depend entirely on your view of the Sasquatch (or Bigfoot). I prefer to see it as a fantasy, but that doesn't take away from the excitement of this book. This is a "guys" book, that girls will also enjoy reading.

Sasquatch,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Sasquatch (Paperback)
In my story my main character Dylan goes on an expedition with his father. This is no regular expedition though. Dylan and his father are going to find Sasquatch. Dylan's father and his team think that Sasquatch is on Mt. St. Helens. Dylan's father tells Dylan that he can not go on the expedition. Dylan says that he will go to a friend's house but really does not. After his father leaves Dylan sneaks out and meets up with a man named Buck. Dylan and Buck go to an old cabin that Buck owns on Mt. St. Helens. In the story Dylan encounters a Sasquatch. Dylan sees the Sasquatch right out side of Buck's cabin. Dylan also dicovers that Buck has some very dark secrets from his past. He finds that the F.B.I is trying to pin a crime on him. This book is filled with adventure, mystery, and it will always have you wanting more and have you on the edge of your seet.

Sasquatch,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Sasquatch (Hardcover)
SasquatchThe book Sasquatch, by Roland Smith, is about a group of men that join together to go hunting for a large hairy creature called Big Foot. The team went hiking on a mountain on their search to find him. The problem is that the mountain is Mount Saint Helens, and the volcano begins to erupt while they are there. When one of the men gets hurt, it is actually Sasquatch (the Native American word for Bigfoot) that finds him and carries him to safety. The main characters in this book are a thirteen year old boy named Dylan and his father, who has always been interested in mythical creatures. Dr. Flagg is the leader of the hunting party that wants to capture and kill a Sasquatch. Samuel Johnson is the field biologist that Dylan joins in trying to protect the creature from the hunters. The character that I like the best is Dylan's dad, because ever since he was helped by a kind, mysterious creature years before, he planned to sometime find and see his friend again. He just wanted to thank him, not hurt him like the others in his group. The rest of the group has no idea that he is on a mission to help Bigfoot, or that Dylan is following them all. I would give this book four stars out of five, and would definitely recommend it to a friend. It had all of the elements of surprise, you didn't see it coming or you knew it was coming and you were waiting for it to happen. Plus, it was action packed and full of drama, adventure and humor. I thought the characters were believable and typical. It really makes you believe in the whole Bigfoot legend. |
