I bought this for my dad who is an ice cream lover but doesn't need to make large quantities of ice cream at one time. It was more of a novelty gift, but after making vanilla and chocolate ice cream in this little machine, we are really happy with the quality of ice cream and have been using it almost daily!

It's an easy machine to use, the only drawback for kids would be having to wait 4-5 hours for the ice cream. This is actually great for adults who like 2-3 servings of freshly made ice cream based on simple recipes.

My five-year-old asked for a "food maker" for Christmas, and she has been VERY happy with this ice cream maker. The recipes provided with the machine are simple. Some require heating on the stove, and parental assistance is a must. The end result is very tasty ice cream after just a few minutes of prep time and 4 hours of freezing. The components are well made and very easy to clean. The machine has two ice cream chambers, allowing you to make batches with two different flavors or add-ins if you like. The machine makes enough ice cream to make small servings for a family of 5, perfect for portion control ;).

Since I own and use th Cuisinart, I was a little skpetical but decided to get this little ice cream maker for our vacation home. I was really impressed! Two different flavors and just as good as any home made ice cream I have made. I used my own recipe rather than the ones provided and followed the freezing directions carefully. I put the cooked mixture on an ice bath prior to putting it into the mixer and then into the freezer. The mixer was in the freezer overnight. the ice vream was perfect. So I have a feeling, it needs to be in the freezer a little longer than the instructions specify. Overall, a giid little machine - looking forward to sharing the making with my pre-school aged daughter.

I bought this for my daughter, who was 11 years old at the time. She used it quite a bit for the first two weeks, and was very happy with how it worked. After two months, it was completely dead, and changing the batteries made no difference. I don't expect great quality & craftsmanship out of appliances intended for kids, but this item isn't kid priced, it's expensive. This item is sort of like an Easy Bake oven--fun, but better to just teach your child to use the real thing. I was very excited to give this gift to my granddaughter. Mixed all the ingredients, turned it on---nothing happened. We had new batteries. We manually stirred the mixture during the freezing process. It tasted great when frozen.
