Product Description

Product Description

Sensory Ball Set includes 3 balls: 1 plush, 1 hard plastic with rattle and 1 soft textured plastic. These all have high-contrast patterns to help promote development of baby's vision, and have graspable areas for baby to shake toy and be introduced rhythms. Not only will baby play with these, they will eventually bounce, squeeze, throw and even catch them as baby learns!

From the Manufacturer

The Sassy sensory ball set has three unique balls inspire all of baby's senses. One ball engages baby's sense of touch with its fabric textures and baby's vision with its bold colors and patterns. The next ball captures baby's sense of hearing with an easy-to-grasp hard plastic ball with a chime ball inside. The third ball is made of squeezable BPA-free plastic that has been scented to smell like vanilla, a calming scent that appeals to the baby's sense of taste. Appropriate for babies 6 plus months. From the very first day of life, babies are sensative to the overall melody and rhythm of spoken language. By two or three months, they can then apply these skills to all sounds, recognizing changes in tempo and rhythm. By eight months, babies can even keep track of pitch. Shake a ball to let baby hear the rattle inside; then shake a rhythm with it. You can even sing along! Show baby how to squeeze the fabric ball and hear it crinkle. Then give a ball to baby and let her try. 2011 Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Award and Snap Award.

The balls are perfect size (about 3.5 - 4 "). The three balls have different textures, colors and sounds making them lots of fun and very educational for infants. I introduced each ball separately after the excitement over the previous ball wore off (1-2 weeks). Below more descriptions and ideas of what to do with each ball and how to get the max of them:

SOFT BALL
The fabric ball has both soft fabric and crunchy thin plastic segments. My then 3.5 mo old LOVED exploring the different textures and sounds it makes.
I was unhappy with the fact that you cannot wash it properly (it says not to immerse it in water, only wipe off with a cloth). So after it rolled into a dirty place I wiped it off with alcohol. The colors on the ball do not match the picture (e.g. it has a black segment with large white polka dots on it).
***The ball does not roll very well ***. I removed the tag with washing instructions but it is till not perfectly round and although it rolls, it is really only good for a very young infant play.

RATTLE BALL
The rattle plastic ball is the all favorite -- it is easy to grasp, makes sounds and is fun to roll. Again, it does not roll perfectly because its "equator" sticks a bit out and it has a flat base and top. But the flat base only makes the ball more stable when you put it down, which is a plus. At 4.5 months, my baby learned to push the ball a bit (not really roll it yet), but this ball is too tempting to grasp rather than to push/roll it given its "easy to grasp" features. Thus, I believe the third ball will really be used for rolling practicing. With this ball, the baby tries to stick her tongue into the ball through the bars but it appears to be safe. Another fun thing we did with the ball is to show the baby how you can spin it like a top.

Buying this sight unseen, I though it was a good price for three balls. However, upon receiving the item, I see that it is in fact rather overpriced.

The rattle ball is reasonably nice, but the other two balls are low quality, the type I'd imagine seeing at a dollar store as two-for-one. The plush one is more of an oval shape due to poor construction and is slightly different than pictured. And the blue one is not scented with vanilla, as stated in the description, and I would estimate its manufacturing cost at 2 cents each.

Still, the balls are usable, and fairly fun for my eight-month-old.

People don't typically write a review when the product met expectations but thats what this review is. The three balls are made of different materials and have different weights. They are all great kids toys. I bought them for my 10 month old and she loves them. The heavy one with the ball in is easy to pick up and shake, and I the textured blue ball is definitely her current favorite toy.

My baby loves these. I thought they would be a little different for some reason, but they were a huge hit with my baby, so I can't complain. There is one soft one with crinkle and textures, one with ridges that is soft/light, and one with a rattle ball inside that makes noise when it rolls. Together they will keep baby better for hours!

This product is nontoxic. I emailed sassy. It doesn't have bpa or PVC.

My children have enjoyed these balls a lot, from 2-8 months they have loved the blue ball. The soft ball was good too. The hard ball was dangerous until around 8 months because they would whack themselves or their sibling in the brad with it.

These balls are bigger than I expected, about softball sized. My daughter is five months old and just starting to notice them and grab them. I would probably buy the Baby Einstein bendy ball instead because a few babies in my Mother's Group have them and love grabbing and playing with it whereas these balls don't hold the same attraction for my girl.

I bought it for my 9 months old baby. It's not that 'education' for her at this age (which I guess it's not supposed to be anyway!), but she likes to play with them!

My seven month old loves balls. This three pack has a good sampling of textures. He loves the crunchy cloth ball and the bumpy rubber ball. However, the plastic jingly ball is rather heavy-duty, and he clunks himself in the face with it. For now, we've taken the heavy-duty ball away from him.
