5.0 out of 5 stars A Great First Toy
This was one of my son's very favorite toys when he was first learning to grab and play, around 2 months old. It is extremely easy for babies to hold on to. He loved the crinkly feet, and chewing on the knots on its head. It was very easy to clean by dunking a rag in hot soapy water and soaking/scrubbing the fabric parts, then wiping down the wood and air drying. We had...

1.0 out of 5 stars Scary Dove!!!, March 3, 2010

If I could give this -5 stars. We got this toy from our registry. After having it for a couple months, I finally gave it to my 5 month old, as she has started teething. The first day I gave it to her, she kinda tried to chew on the wood- fine. Today when I gave it to her, she was chewing on the tail feathers- NOT FINE! She had it in her mouth for maybe 1-2 minutes, and then I noticed bright red stuff pouring from her mouth. It was so red, I thought it was blood. I panicked, grabbed the toy from her, then wiped off her mouth with her bib. I then realized it was dye from the red fabric on the tail! I tried to wipe her mouth out, but literally for 30+ minutes, she kept drooling red dye- from only 1-2 minutes of chewing on the toy! I called the toy company after I calmed down, and then assured me that it is a non-toxic dye- fine, but I feel like it should not come out of a fabric that a baby will be chewing/sucking on. They are sending me a return envelope so they can do quality control on the dove. I just don't feel like a "natural/environmentally friendly" toy should leak dye. So, I would think twice about buying this item!!!

It was very easy to clean by dunking a rag in hot soapy water and soaking/scrubbing the fabric parts, then wiping down the wood and air drying. We had quite a few of the Earth Brights toys but this one was his favorite by far. Now, I buy one as a gift for every friend who is having a baby.

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful, July 23, 2009

This toy is amazing! My son indicated that he liked it in the store when he was about three months old, so I bought it for him. I was glad I did because it was his favorite toy for months. He played with it almost constantly, and we always took it when we went out. He loved studying the wood and the different textures of the fabrics and chewing on the feet. It was extremely durable, though I am considering getting a new one for my second child because a favorite toy, no matter how well made, will get worn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great developmental toy, September 10, 2009

I bought this on a whim for my Grandson when he was 5 months old and it is still his favorite (7 + months now). He has Occupational Therapy due to Moebius Syndrome(facial paralysis)and his OT just loves the toy also. She said the different textures are excellent. It is also very appealing to his parents because it is not plastic. I will definitely buy another of these Sassy Wood toys.

The baby loves it. I like that it's wood, lightweight, and easy for her to handle. I also like that it doesn't make a lot of noise. We use this as a church toy for our 8 month old. Very cute.

My 7 month old enjoys biting and sucking on this toy. His hands can grab the toy well through the hole in the middle. The feathers on the tail end have that krinkle paper inside so the make a fun sound.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful first baby toy!, June 24, 2009
This review is from: Sassy Earth Brights Wooden Dove Toy (Baby Product)
This toy is perfectly designed for when your baby first starts grasping and mouthing things (around 3 months). For several months, this was the toy that had to go EVERYWhere with us, because my baby loved it and it kept him so entertained. I also like that it's natural materials.

This has been a wonderful simple first toy for our son. We gave it to him for Christmas when he was 3 months. Though he wasn't immediately interested, he was soon, and it was the first toy he could really grip and move to his mouth. We like it because it's one of the quietest toys unless there's something hard to hit it against; the crinkle of some of the "tail feathers" provides some interest but is very soft. It's also a great size to throw in a small diaper bag.

I was a little nervous he would poke himself with it, especially put the "beak" in his eye, but it didn't happen. Certainly it seems more safe than most hard objects. Just judge your baby's control vs strength.

My almost 4 month old daughter just started grabbing 2 weeks ago and has and easy time holding on and it definitely catches her attention. I find I have to have many different kinds of grabby/teething toys though because she tends to get bored after a little bit, but I hold them and reintroduce them later in the day and it's all new & fun to her once again.

My baby loves this toy. She likes to gum the ribbons and they all have different textures to them. I love Sassy for making wood baby toys that are reasonably priced.
