3.0 out of 5 stars right-handed only
These turned out to be useless for us, because my son is left-handed. This means that the fork and spoon point the wrong way for him. Most babies are fairly ambidextrous, so it's not an issue for most parents, but if your kid shows a pronounced tendency for left-handedness, these utensils will only frustrate them.

I wouldve given the set five stars if they had specified that it was made for children who are right handed. They need to have more left handed item available.

Most babies are fairly ambidextrous, so it's not an issue for most parents, but if your kid shows a pronounced tendency for left-handedness, these utensils will only frustrate them.

Aside from that, though, these are still only mediocre. The handles are too thick for my 1-year-old son to grab, but the gap in the middle of the handle is too small for his fingers. Even as a toy, these aren't very good.

Also, the color change takes 30 seconds, which is a lifetime when your irate toddler is begging for food, and only kicks in at 105F, which is way, way too hot. Just stick your finger in the food to see if it's a good temperature. It's faster, easier, and more informative.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good idea, but..., August 22, 2008
This review is from: Sassy, Flexi Grip 1 Toddler Fork & 1 Spoon Set - Colors Vary (Baby Product)
I was really excited about these utensils, but my daughter still had a hard time with these. The handles are great because they are big, but it is akward to scoop, and the fork can't "stab" things that arent really thick. It works good on pasta, but not on eggs, as the eggs crumble and fall apart when "stabbed"; even pasta tends to shread into a couple pieces if the bite isn't rushed to the toddler mouth right away...which what toddler learning to eat can move it that quickly?! Great item, but for older toddlers.

2.0 out of 5 stars Baby Eating Utensils, February 10, 2008
This review is from: Sassy, Flexi Grip 1 Toddler Fork & 1 Spoon Set - Colors Vary (Baby Product)
They are a nice feature being that they change colors to notify you when the food is too hot to eat. Otherwise, the curvature of the handle is a bit difficult and needs to be lengthened just a bit to make it worth the child not turning the spoon and fork over and spilling the food on themselves or the floor or tray. I do like the color change; however. It's like measuring the temperature in a hot bathtub. LLO'C

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun utensils for littles ones who are just starting to feed themselves, November 15, 2007

I gave this set 4 star instead of 5 because I haven't used the fork yet. I only use the spoon. Not sure if my son will use the fork anytime soon as he's still eating very soft foods and mostly he needs a spoon to eat them with.

The handle is very easy to grip. The width of the spoon is perfect for my 8 month old's mouth. He enjoys trying to hold to spoon himself and has been successful at getting most of the food into his mouth.

Something I really enjoy is that the spoon reacts if the food is too hot. It turns white. So if I've heated something up I stir it with the spoon to check it it's too hot.

I am going to order another set of these as I think they are very handy. The spoon right now and the fork later when my son starts to feed himself.
