Sassy Pants is crying because nobody trusts her. Old Clyde explains that she has broken friendships and needs to sincerely apologize, do good deeds, make amends and earn trust. The others learn to forgive.

Adorable characters. Carol A. Brown has done a great job. Great for classroom reading.

Reminiscent of Beatrix Potter!  Comes with code for free audio version and downloadable parent/teacher manual from author's website. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book!

From the Author

Sassy Pants Makes Amends is the second of four stories in the Sassy Pants series. In the first story Sassy Pants is completely self centered and focused on what she wants. She learns the hard way that choices have consequences. In this story she focuses on restoring what she broke.

I thought the first story was the only one...until I started typing. Great fun to watch the story unfold and flow onto the computer screen.

More About the Author

I was raised in a farming community in Iowa for the first 16 years of life. The family moved to Minnesota where I finished high school and then pursued academics. I met my husband, David, during his internship with Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We married in 1969, and have ministered together in Idaho, Indiana, Ohio, Mihigan, Australia, Germany, Finland, and Canada--David as pastor, counselor, and trainer, I as educator and helpmate. We have two daughters and five grandchildren.

I write for two audiences: adults readers who want to understand their God-given design and walk in it as victorious Christians, and children. Autographed copies of both children's books and those for adults can be purchased through the author's website.

I began telling stories when I had enough brothers for an audience! There were four all told and finally a sister, but by then I was 14! We lived on a farm in N.E. Iowa near the Mississippi River and attended school in a one-room schoolhouse. I draw on the adventures of growing up for my children's stories. Sassy Pants is the first in a series of four. The second, Sassy Pants Makes Amends will be released April 17, 2012. And, who knows how many more critters will leave paw or hoof prints on a page--there were many of them on that farm!

I received a B.A. in Anthropology and Languages from Bethel College, St. Paul, Minnesota in 1968, and elementary education teaching certification in 1972 from Boise State College, Boise, Idaho. While our children were small, I substituted in the local elementary school, helped out at church, and was a stay-at-home Mom. In 1986, I received an M.A. in College Instruction with special emphasis in English As A Second Language from Eastern Washington University, Cheney, WA. I taught at North Idaho Jr. College, Gonzaga University, and Whitworth College. I joined my husband at Elijah House, Inc., Post Falls, ID as Education Director in 1989. In 1994 while teaching in Germany, I experienced physical difficulties that were later diagnosed as multiple sclerosis.

We lived 8 years in Victoria, B.C. where my husband, David, supervised the internship of Elijah House Canada. I spent that time as intercessor, in recovery, and writing The Mystery of Spiritual Sensitivity and its companion volume, Highly Sensitive. Subsequently, the Lord has commissioned me to pull together the dreams and visions with which He taught me many lessons. He sees a parallel between the struggles involved in living with MS and where the Church is today. This work is in progress.

In addition to being passionate about reading and writing, I enjoy nature, music, and playing the piano. I also do pottery, knit, crochet, and paint. David and I worship at a bilingual church ministering to Hispanics in the Great Lakes area.

As well as write, I also speak to various groups, in churches and out, give seminars and workshops, of limited duration. You can find that information at www.fromgodsheart.com. My current faith assignment is to stay close to Jesus so that I can hear what He says and write it down.

Sassy Pants the pig is lonely and she knows it's her own fault.
The naughty piggy had spent the previous summer making life miserable for all the other farm animals and now she is bearing the consequences. No one wants to play with her. No one trusts her.
In desperation she seeks advice from the wise old farm horse who teaches Sassy about asking forgiveness and making amends for her bad behavior. It's not an easy lesson for the self-centered pig, but with the help of Ms. Molly the sheep, Sassy learns how to be a good friend.
I love "Sassy Pants Makes Amends"--a story about true forgiveness and the consequences of our actions. The dialogue is delightful and filled with character lessons laced with humor.
A wonderful, insightful children's tale!

Entertaining while at the same time a good example of emotional growth & good emotional health. This would make a great first "chapter" book for your child, or a read-along for them.

As a Christian mother of two daughters, this is the type of book I loved to read to my children when they were youngsters. There are several things that make this an enjoyable read for young children: The repeating nature of the theme of making things right, giving and receiving forgiveness, the adorable animal pictures, the endearing language of the characters, and being part of a series, which children love.

As a parent, there is much to talk about in this sweet book -- educationally, spiritually, and emotionally. I found this to be a delightful book, and for any child who didn't grow up on a farm, they will especially enjoy learning about the endearing animals in this story.

In book one Sassy Pants was a self-centered trouble maker and bully. Sassy thought she did not need farm animals to be her friends because she thought she was people and belonged in the house with the other people. She caused so much misery for the people and animals on the farm. The farm animals did not want to play with her even though it had been awhile since she caused a ruckus.

What could she do to make the other animals like her? It would be nice to have friends to play with. Finally Miss Molly and the wise old horse that lived on the farm came up with a plan. They would use positive attitudes and acts of kindness to teach Sassy how to be a friend to others. Then the other animals decided they would follow Miss Molly's example.

But they probably thought she would try to play some kind of trick on them again.

Will they be able to make amends?
Will Sassy ever get to play with any of them?
Why should they feel sorry for her or forgive her?
Do you think if she forgave Farmer White and Mrs. White for sending her back to the pig pen that God would heal her bitter heart and let others see she was sincere in her apologies?
Do you think they might find it in their heart to forgive her?

This is such a good book for children to learn to be kind and humble. Not vindictive and destructive or being a bully.

In the Lord's Prayer it says, "Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.I think this book is a good example of that verse in the Lord's Prayer.

The colorful and fun illustrations will spark the child's imagination bringing the words alive within the illustrations.

I highly recommend this book.

This is a story about Sassy Pants, a pig living on Farmer White's farm after World War II as told by Ms. Molly Merino, a wee shy lamb. Before she was reformed, Sassy Pants broke every rule of the barnyard, leaving her with no friends. Ms. Molly's story illustrated the consequences of Sassy Pants' bad choices and encouraged everyone to think carefully about the choices they make. The consequence for Sassy Pants was that she had no friends and was very sad.

Ms. Molly tells the children how Old Clyde, the Clydesdale horse, discovered Sassy Pants all alone, her eyes red from crying. When Clyde learned why Sassy Pants was so sad, he told her she needed to make amends. Sassy Pants didn't know what that meant, but she was willing to learn. The story gently teaches us the big words.

Sassy Pants goes back to all the animal friends she had hurt to try to regain their trust and friendship, offering the reader, or listener, many important messages. The animal characters are fun, too.

I received a complimentary copy of this book for review from the author. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255.

This delightful story for 8 year olds (or so), second in a series, takes us back to Farmer White's barnyard and all its animal residents, especially Sassy Pants the loud, bumptious pig who has offended most of the other animals. In a style that never talks down, an important message is embedded, repeated, explained and practised with such gusto and gentle visual humour that its absorption will pass almost unnoticed. The scene where Sassy Pants practises apologising is a gem among many others. The story pulls no punches, and never pretends that making amends is easy, but gives a very clear idea of what is necessary when mending fences and reestablishing trusting friendships. Children and adults alike will laugh, and undoubtedly the story will stimulate questions and a clamour for more, especially with its wonderful cliffhanger ending!
The add-ons that Carol Brown has provided are invaluable to parents and teachers and for less-advanced readers, as well as for children listening alone.
I am a lot older than 8 and am waiting impatiently for the next instalment!
