Book Description

October 1987
Tom Wedge is one of the leading experts in the United States concerning Satanism and the occult. He has written The Satan Hunter to assist law enforcement agencies and to reveal to the general public the diabolical battle that is going on with this unseen force that affects every segment of our society. Tom says, "Before anyone can fully understand the practitioner of Satanism, they must first understand the spiritual warfare that has been going on since Satan's fall. If we are going to fight the enemy, we must have a battle plan. Unless we know and understand all we can about the enemy. Remember - It Does Not Matter What You Believe, It's What They Believe That Makes Them Dangerous." Tom and his wife, Brenda, have traveled nationwide conducting seminars on the topics of Satanism before thousands of people in law enforcement, college campuses, churches and civic groups. They have appeared on a number of radio and TV talk show programs. * Learn the true story of Sean Sellers- the 16-year-old killer of his mother and stepfather! * Learn the origins of Satan, The Church of Satan, recruitment tactics and sacrifice rituals! * Learn what a Black Mass service really is, and the impact the Santeria is having on the United States! * Learn about Satanic symbols, colors, books and worship! * Learn what witches really have to say about their craft! * Learn about the religion that is sweeping the United States! --- from book's back cover.

4.0 out of 5 stars satan hunter, July 4, 2011

This review is from: The Satan Hunter (Paperback)
This book could get you killed. It tells you what you'll find at a crimes scene. it decribes what thes people buy off the shelves at stores. If you buy this book to "DO what the title says". It's best to "save children from your computer. This book is for a cop going outside of the law! A civilian, would probably end up missing. Best for info only.
Ps. This book informs that Satanic murders are hidden from the public, digging deeper in other books they tell you "the Elite" are doing this. So I've come to the conclusion: your children get kidnapped by the Elite, for ritual, the Police know and are told by their high ups not to tell the public! what a wonderful world!

Really the only person I would think who would be remotely interested in this book is a cop who knows absolutely nothing about ritual crime.
The author claims to be an expert and has dealt with occult crime regularily. But never reveals the details of any of these cases. Is he not allowed to by the police department or is he exaggerating his claims? Who knows, but his personal experiences arent detailed in the book.
There are some correspondences with Scott Sellers who was a satanist and who did kill his parents in the book. However the author wasnt involved in the case and the publisher seems to have crammed the most interesting part of the book in the front to try and sell books because its all downhill from there.
The hysteria of the 1980's come through in this book with an entire section devoted to D&D. I suppose D&D could lead people to the occult in the same way Tolkien could lead people to the occult or in the way a blank sheet of artists paper could be the gateway to drawing occult symbols.
With kids today mindlessly staring at TVs and playing ADD inducing videogames, the idea of children sitting down in an orderly fashion playing a rules based game of the imagination seems not just quaint but would make most parents today ecstatic.
And so it is the religious nuts and the moral police have moved on from attacking D&D to now making video games their pariah.
All in all this book was a big nothing, it hints at a vast satanic conspiracy rampant leaving clues everywhere. But as far as facts all it can produce is a demented teenager who integrated satanism into his revenge fantasies against his parents.
I have no doubt ritual crime exists, but if you're going to claim to be the 'Satan Hunter' you better produce the goods. This book doesnt.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent Overview, August 28, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Satan hunter (Paperback)
This book provided a decent overview of the various occult groups (Satanist, Wiccan, Santeria and Voodoo) operating in the United States. The author seems to have researched his material pretty well. I took away a few stars for two reasons. One, this book is rather dated having been published in the mid-80s. If you are looking for an up-to-date publication, this probably won't do it for you. Secondly, the chapter on Wicca was pretty bad. It basically allowed two professed witches get on their soapbox and preach away. While this is very informative, some kind of counterpoint would be helpful. Furthermore, the witches in question did NOT (unlike the author) back up their claims with any kind of verifiable evidence. Twice they claimed that Exodus 22:18 was somehow placed in there by a (unnamed) Pope. A beginning seminary student could tell you that there is ample evidence that the text of Exodus pre-dates the papacy by a very long time. All and all this was a decent book with a very readable style.
