1.0 out of 5 stars Satan's High Priest?
Rarely has it been my displeasure to read such a piece of poorly-written pornography masquerading as a tell-all expose' of "Satanism." Between the bodice-ripping pseudo-details ("The child's hand grasped the hilt of the ceremonial dagger, and struck with profound savagery, again and again. The altar ran with blood") to Spencer's own admission in the...

SATAN'S HIGH PRIEST
BY
JUDITH SPENCER

If you only purchase one book this year,
choose this one. Spencer carefully
and artfully turns her pen into a scapel as
she lays bare the secret horror in
the tiny town of "Lathrop." The details
of ritual abuse become apallingly real,
and the reader begins to understand how
satanic cults have flourished for
generations.

The book brackets the time frame of WWII
and focuses on the life of Joseph
Warren, an insescure man who was ritually
abused at the hands of his father, whose
role as High Priest he usurps. The reader
is shown vividly how this cult uses their
own children to satiate perverse needs.
Through dissociation, which Ms. Spencer
carefully explains, the children are made to
feel special while enduring atrocities,
often at the hands of their own parents.

Judith Spencer has courageously provided us
with the information we need to help put an
end to this evil, and to open our minds
and our hearts to the thousands of cult
defectors who, against all odds, choose
light over the darkness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Let the truth be known..., December 23, 2006
This review is from: Satans High Priest (Hardcover)
I understand that some that read this book are skeptical. One of the areas of confusion is that some wonder where all the bodies went. I can tell you. My whole family were high level Masons involved in a multi-generational Satanic Cult. The main way our cult disposed of bodies, both animal and human:
The cult's main activities took place in the farmlands of Wisconsin (my hometown was La Crosse, WI). There were hundreds of farms that were hidden in acres of corn and various crops. They built both underground networks for rituals and converted barns, silos and homes for rituals/rooms for torture etc... (and yes, in small communities, usually many are involved in the cult. our pediatrician, dentist, my dad's doctor and our pharmacist were all cult members...very clever indeed...they 'hid' all evidence of torture, rape etc... by being our treating doctors, putting in our files only that which was 'normal' for a growing child to experience. multi-generational cults are masters at hiding evidence)
To continue...In one underground room was a large wooden butcher-block table, a man with a leather butcher's apron and an industrial strength meat grinder. All the remains from the nights' rituals/sacrifices/torture sessions gone wrong were brought to the 'butcher'. (in many rituals/sacrifices most of the internal body parts and all of the blood are used/consumed, so there is often not a lot left to destroy) The butcher receives the body remains, and grinds them up into mulch, for lack of a better word. Bones, skin, cartilage etc... are finely ground, then mixed with farm animal manure, then spread on the crops as fertilizer. Healthy corn and no one was the wiser.
That is one of the ways I witnessed how the many bodies were rid of.

The reason i am sharing this, is it is hard enough for our minds to get around the possibility that this does and is happening, all over the world. All of this is real, unfortunately. It is a sad, but true fact of humanity. But the only way to stop it from continuing is to bring it out into the light; To expose it and for people to be aware. Judith wrote a powerful book. She has the courage to tell the truth, even though it is a very sad truth. If we can answer questions with facts that will help your mind understand, then hopefully, this book will be a step in exposing the horrible events and bring them to an end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Exploration into the Psychology of Perpetrators, March 12, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Satan's High Priest (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is an objective and unemotional biography of a man who leads a satanic cult. It delves expertly and gracefully into the psychology of perpetrators.

It gives a balanced view of an unthinkable lifestyle and explains the day-to-day routines of the greatest monsters of our time.

This book is a genuine eye-opener, and very accurate, according to my own experience as a survivor of satanic ritual abuse.

Perpetrators and protectors of perpetrators (and there are many) will undoubtedly be alarmed at the exposure-value of this fine piece. It takes the mystery out of the lives of the practitioners of the black arts, and reveals them for the sad, destructive, harmful vermin that they are.

5.0 out of 5 stars More frightening than King/Koontz because it's true, September 3, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Satans High Priest (Hardcover)
Starting at the age of two, Joseph Warren was being trained by his father, Dexter, to eventually take over the family's two businesses, running the local mortuary and serving as the high priest to a satanic cult. Dexter was an expert in the art of brainwashing by using physical and psychological abuse to get Joseph ready to one day be in charge. Dexter also used any means necessary to insure that the members properly honored the "Great One".

By the end of WW II, Joseph had learned his lessons so well, he committed his first rebellious act and replaced his father as the high priest. For the next fifteen years he ruled the cult by frightening and abusing its members, including his own wife and children. He managed to get the members to commit satanic rituals that were often times vicious, brutal and sexual even towards their own families. By the mid-fifties, a worn out Joseph was finally dethroned as the cult leader.

SATAN'S HIGH PRIEST is an incredible true account of a cult leader and his family that sounds more like a Clive Barker movie than a non-fiction book. Readers will begin to understand the why and how cults flourish as Judith Spencer writes an incredible book that turns Mr. Warren into a real person, not just a Roger Corman B movie figure.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best I've read on this topic., March 17, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Satans High Priest (Hardcover)
This book tells the story of an intergenerational satanic cult located in the southern US. The author has pieced together this history through listening to several survivors who were victimized in this cult. It follows the life of one perpetrator, a satanic high priest, from birth to death. It gives excellent insight into how denial works, the difference between those in collusion who are members and those consciously choose to be perpetrators, and the internal contradictions of participating in such a cult. I think it helps us to understand how a man who looks broken and defeated at the end of his life, could paradoxically have been, in younger days, a powerful and abusive high priest.

5.0 out of 5 stars New slant on ancient issue of ritual abuse., November 22, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Satans High Priest (Hardcover)
Judith Spencer's first book on ritual abuse made me afraid, but Satan's High Priest made me cry. This insightful, new book tells the story of occult crime from the viewpoint of the perpetrator. Joseph Warren, operates the local mortuary and the mercantile as well, so he's exceptionally well situated to succeed his father as high priest of the local satanic cult. As we watch his rise to power, the broadening of his sphere of influence and his masterful control over his subjects, both human and demonic, we see a man driven to flee awareness of his own traumatic past, an awareness that could lead to his own healing. Joe Warren never chooses awareness, but he does lose his power to a bigger player, and the latter days of Warren's life are ruled by fear -- the natural fruit of his labors for evil. Then, just when things look darkest, adults Joe abused and trained to do evil as children begin to remember and reach out for help as they embrace the awareness Joe never had. One of them is Joe's own da

5.0 out of 5 stars Frightening and revealing report of violation in America, April 30, 1998
By
This review is from: Satans High Priest (Hardcover)
This book is a terryfying report of how society can participate in a totally destructive manner, The geographical setting may be important because the South, especially in the 1930's, was a depressive and oppressive place. What was happening in Europe, specifically in Germany at the same time, is an important mirror, although the author does not draw the important parallel. Most readers might find the story absurd, or more importantly, fantastic, surreal. But it is important to realize that human beings DO participate in such horrendous activities. They go on even today.

Having read REACHING FOR THE LIGHT, I followed the suggestion to learn all I could about ritual abuse. So very much of the content in SATAN'S HIGH PRIEST has turned out to be true in my friend's case, I am grateful for this book being written and published. It not only helped me realize I am not fighting this war alone, but the ending--the ending is helping me and my friend reach for the light. Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Only Occult Members Would Not Give This Book 5 Stars!!!, April 12, 2009
This review is from: Satan's High Priest (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is an excellent, true, well-documented account of how Satanic Cults operate in every town across the United States (and other countries too). Nearly every religion has "front" members who are actual members of the occult. Also, every sheriff's department, police department, etc. have insiders that protect Satanism and their members. Anyone who doubts these exist, only needs to look up "Multi Generational Satanic Cults" and they will find true accounts written by members of nearly every religion and walk of life. These accounts are too similar or even identical to discount. Even though this book is difficult to read at times, it's an eye opening account that exposes how these occults operate.

This review is from: Satan's High Priest (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is a well written account of the double life many lead who are members of Satanic Cults. Nearly all of these cults are associated with specific religions, masonic groups or other secret societies in their upper levels of membership. Anyone who's written reviews stating that this is made-up fiction hasn't researched this topic in depth. This is real and it is occurring in America and other nations in the world.
