To start, this book is exactly what it says it is, a guide. For anyone who is interested in learning more about demons, fallen angels, vampires, dark fae, zombies or other dark mythological creatures this would be a fantastic starting point.

This great for people who are not familiar with these creatures or beings because it tells you all the basic information that you need, without becoming a full blown encyclopedia. Think of it as a GPS to dark creatures and their lore. It will allow you to pick and choose which ones you would like to learn more about from other great books (you can find many of the creatures featured in other works by the same author. For instance, I. Lucifer: Exploring the Archetype and Origins of the Devil and Allure of the Vampire: Our Sexual Attraction to the Undead) and gives a list of recommended reading material at the end, in case you were so inclined to continue your journey into the dark.

Personally, I always wanted to learn more about fallen angels and this book delivered. However, that wasn't the only thing that caught my eye. The last chapter of the book was devoted to other dark creatures besides the expected fallen angels and demons. This section included dark fairies (fae), vampires, werewolves and zombies, just to name a few. The information about the dark fae (a particular interest of mine) was informative and the section about vampires gave examples of their lore in several different cultures which I was not previously familiar with.

Non-Fiction seems to be Mr. Nocturnum's calling. He continually creates easy to read books that entertain as well as educate. I have also sampled some of his fiction as well, which is absolutely brilliant as well.

I am so glad I picked up this book.

I was very excited to get this book, but find it nearly unreadable. I don't know if it's the Kindle version, or if someone actually published a book this filled with typos, grammatical errors, run-on sentences and the like, but I am very disappointed.
