Great product. Works very well for shooting time lapse and star trails. I will have to experiment more to confirm.
It now comes with an ON/OFF switch so the battery life should improve. However, I haven't tested it extensively over a longer period to determine battery life. The positives: 1. The screen has a backlight so that you can work under dark conditions. 2. The timers can be set upto a really long time 3. The number of shots is selectable upto 399, or set to infinity. The only gripe I can think of is that the buttons are a bit hard to press. However, I don't press them often in regular usage and it doesn't affect me much.

This is just what I was looking for. I was looking for a remote for my Sony a200 for night time photography (to reduce camera shake) and for Time Lapse video (takes a photo every so often which creates the frames- often used to show growth of plants on nature programs). This does just that. It's very versatile and is easy to work once you browse through the manual.
It runs on 2 AAA batteries. The only negative thing I can think of is that it doesn't have an off button!! The reason for this I think would be for if you're setting it up for a long time for Time Lapse shooting. But when you pack the remote away when you're not using it, you have to take the batteries out so the batteries don't waste away. Which I guess will be the first bit to break. I imported this product from America to England, and cost an extra £27 on postal charges (which was hidden- as once the package was dispatched and arrived in England I got a letter with an extra charge from the postal service! - Which was quite gutting! But despite this, I'm glad I got this instead of a regular shutter release. |
