I was tempted - I really needed a remote release, and the Canon is a nice setup. But it's 5x as much money. So I read the reviews here and they're all correct - this thing does exactly what it says. One button for focus, one for release; or, press the release halfway and focus, press harder to shoot. You can use it as a wired cable release too, without using any battery power.

Mine came fully charged. The indicator lights all work, the manual (one page) isn't much but it tells you the functions. What more do you need?

The antenna is the old-style telescoping deal, but I haven't needed to pull it out yet. The system works without a hitch from 40' feet away through an apartment wall.

Somebody mentioned a slight delay between the button press and the shot. I haven't noticed it. If it's there it's a fraction of a second.

I'm glad I didn't waste my money on the Canon. I love my 40D and I stick with their brand for most accessories, but I won't buy their filters and I'm glad I didn't buy their wireless remote. Just no reason to pay more.

I was in the market for a external wireless shutter control for my Canon 30D, was browsing around the canon website and noticed canon's LC-5 controller costs as much as a new lens. This product perfectly filled my requrements with the addition of costing only a fraction of Canons equivalent. Great accurate shutter control, battery will last an entire day of shooting.

The WR-C100 is a quality product from a good company. Satechi shipped right away and followed up with an e-mail. Checking with the customer after the sale gives me confidence that I have made a good purchase. The unit works as advertised and appears well-made. I have had fun checking it out with my camera on a tripod with the receiver attached. I could trigger the shutter from any room in the house, so it has a long range. Another handy feature is using the receiver alone as a wired shutter release. I purchased this so I could put the camera close to my bird feeders and control it from a distance. I look forward to getting some great pictures. I highly recommend both the product and the seller.

This product work wonderfully and has allowed me to be in more pictures then I have been in the past, usually I am the one with the camera. I love the fact that it is both a wired and a wireless remote so it can be used in both modes. it is also very nice that the receiving unit has a rechargeable battery. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a nice wireless shutter release that does not require line of sight.

The WR-C100 wireless remote is radio based, which works much better than my previous IR remote, mainly because you don't need that line of sight "sweet spot" in order to shoot. I'm able to hold the remote behind my back to capture great shots. If your're looking for a thrifty remote, with some good performance then this is it.

Used with a Canon Rebel XSi

I've been using this remote trigger a lot for live band performances - there are often cases where I'd like to get some shots (for example, of the drummer who is often in the back) from the stage but can't get up there to do the job.

All I need to do now is square it with the band, and place a second camera up on the stage, off to the side, pointed where I want it. I then use the remote trigger to fire off a sequence of shots while standing in the crowd and shooting with the primary camera.

The remote has proven to be dependable despite it's "cheap" feel. A blue LED lights up on the base to verify that it received the command from the remote, useful if you are in a loud environment or out of earshot, and can't here the shutter trip.

Although I haven't had to take this on any trips yet, I'd recommend checking this with your luggage if you plan on taking a flight. The remote control looks an awful lot like a detonator that you'd see in the movies. Especially with the little antenna on it. Might not cause a problem, but it's hard enough getting through security with a lot of camera gear in your carry-on, why exacerbate the problem?

I own a Canon XSi camera. The wireless remote works fine. I haven't been able to use it at any distance yet because of our lousy weather in the mid-west but it worked just fine from the basement to the upstairs bedrooms. The camera on a tripod upstairs and the remote switch in the basement. I am quite sure the range outside will live up to the published range of the unit.

I'm also in charge of our production of video training needs for our stores and for corporate offices, and although this purchase was a personal one for me to use on my Canon t1i digital SLR, I'll surely use it in taking better stills to use in my videos too.

COMMUNICATIONS & DELIVERY: Outstanding, and Satechi shipped and sent it almost instantly, arriving a day earlier than expected. They soon contacted me personally to make sure I got the unit and asked how I liked it. My personal reply back got personal ANSWERS and thanks back from two or three real people at that company too, on their personal company e-mail addresses . . . pleased I was so happy and sharing my responses with others . . . and sharing a photo I'd already taken using their product. Wow . . . REAL people, EXCITED people who care about customers loving their products!!! I'm hooked on this company and it's outstanding product. About the product . . .

The WR-C100 Remote Control: Well constructed, slim, compact (as desired) and it works with simplicity and to perfection. Plug the receiver into the camera, and it becomes a standard, off-camera remote trigger that's so needed by everyone to make their tripod-mounted shots even sharper and trigger group photos while watching off-camera to avoid closed eyes and such.

Turn it's power on, and it receives and triggers your remote shutter fire command to perfection from quite a distance as claimed for nature photography AND for getting in your group shots and counting down to fire perfect group photos of family events and such! Everything was included, batteries and all, plus a means to recharge the unit!

QUITE A VALUE and it does exactly what it claims to perfection. Truly an item that should be in every owner's camera bag of applicable Canon digital cameras. Zero negatives whatsoever about this fine product, and it even packs into even my slimmest SLR "walk-around" mini-bag as if it isn't there, while really helping me when I need it in so many ways.


FIRST SHOTS: Easy to use and such a joy to instantly pop on my Canon t1i camera and set up the tripod near the bird feeder off my screened back porch. In moments I was reclined that first Saturday, sipping iced tea on a beautiful afternoon, glass in one hand and clicking the instant wireless remote transmitter with my other . . . the birds oblivious to my joy! It didn't take long to get some wonderful pictures, including the one that became an instant "wallpaper" hit on my work PC screen!

Yep,the remote control is already getting use with my new Canon digital SLR. Reclining on the back screen porch, sippin' an iced tea in one hand and snapping the remote with the other. LIFE IS GOOD, and Satechi just made it better!

I'M HOOKED . . .
I'm now very intrigued with their Canon xsi camera grip with the digital timer on the back that they make for the xsi digital Rebel. They passed the quality, construction and appearance tests and then their customer service and response blew me away like no other company ever!

This killer-looking grip holds extra batter power (dual Canon batteries or "AA"s work ), for those heavy use photo + flash times . . . and it ALSO allows all sorts of digital time lapse features in a killer-looing grip . . . at a great price.

Best of all, they quickly confirmed back via email that it will indeed interface perfectly with my later model t1i that I own, although their website hadn't been updated to this information to include my camera model yet at that time. It too looks like an outstanding unit, from a very fine company indeed.

I'm sure glad I listened to the reviews because they are right!

The shutter is very self explanatory and you'd be able figure out how to use it even if it didn't have instructions.

And unlike many remotes, these are rechargeable!

Overall an awesome shutter and it's not too expensive! Highly recommended.

This remote was amazing and did all that I needed until one day I pulled it out of the side of my camera and it ripped off and attached part of my DSLR. This cost me $700.00. I am glad I got many great photo's before this because I was not very happy. Also, they break very easily and I have been through three in less than a year.
