It's a very beautifully designed speaker, and I love the fact that you can plug other speakers into it, therefore making it a bluetooth connection to any audio outlet in the room. They market it as allowing you to daisy chain other Satechi speakers to it, but only one needs to have the bluetooth connection to a music device, so you might as well get a different speaker to plug in if you want a bigger louder sound.

I also like the sound quality and the compact design, as well as the cord so in case someone has a device that doesn't have bluetooth, that's a great addition. One thing about the cord though, is that it is only about 4 inches, so beware. It really is only a backup, so don't expect to depend on it. Hopefully you can just use it as intended through bluetooth.

I do have some pretty annoying problems with the buttons and their functionality. There are only 3 buttons, and they do all sorts of different things depending on how you press them. Unfortunately, for the volume control, one of the most used controls for a speaker in my opinion, you have to hold "next track" or "previous track" buttons. This means that if you don't hold it long enough it will skip the track or something! Also, it goes up slowly so I can't tell what the volume is at. I wouldn't be surprised if people owned this speaker and didn't even know it had a volume control. Speaking of volume, it also doesn't remember what the volume was at when I turn on the speaker again.

This speaker does everything you could ask for.

I use it with my MOTO Droid. It works seamlessly with the Bluetooth connection and has the ability to pause, change tracks, and even answer incoming calls. It also has a wired connection if you don't need as much portability, and this gives even louder sound and better quality as can be expected with a hardwired connection.

The battery life is awesome too and the fact that its rechargeable puts it at the top of the class IMO.

The sound quality is great for such a small speaker and it even packs some decent bass levels. The build quality seems very durable and easily compacts for simple storage when travelling.

I would love for them to come out with something similar to this that would also be waterproof for use in the shower. I keep mine on the sink when showering and it fills the entire bathroom with sound.

Highly recommended.

utter piece of garbage - after trying different mini speakers this one is the worst by far. The button functionality is horrible and ends up meaning many times buttons are pressed by accident. The main issue is the horrible sound. Maybe mine is defective, but above a whisper volume it distorts so badly that I can barely hear anything at all. What a huge disappointment.

The rundown:

Just tried a bunch of these:

HMDX jam bluetooth - third place - sounds awesome, very loud and great bass and does not distort. However a constant buzzing/fuzzy noise made this a no go. reasonable price at 35

Satechi bluetooth audio cube - not loud at all, tinny sound, very little bass, sounds muffled. expected more from the large size of the unit compared to others and the positive reviews. overpriced at 50

Kinivo wired - not very loud but otherwise great sound. great bass, clear highs. distorts a little at max volume. great value at 20

Sharkk bluetooth - second place - a best buy at 28 bucks for sure sounds great, good bass and highs, not quite as loud as the jbl or hdmx. Comparable volume to most of the others though.

JBL micro bluetooth - my favorite - first place. great volume, clear highs and good bass. Very user friendly and uses a manual volume dial so each time you turn it on it is at the previous volume. most reset to 50% every time you turn them off and back on. Bluetooth connectivity through walls is not quite as strong as others, the only con. Also can be used as a bluetooth adaptor/dongle which usually costs as much as this speaker alone. The 3.5mm out can plug into any home theater system. Nice spot to hang it up on a nail, making the sound project farther and louder. pricey at 60 but worth it.
