a psychedelic Astrud Gilberto, February 26, 2000
This review is from: Satelite 99 (Audio CD)
Satelite 99 is one of the nicest, smoothest, and yes, I dare say best, albums I've heard in a while. The songs sound like classic sixties bossa nova, but the instrumentation transports this great tradition to the nineties- imagine Astrud Gilberto or Gal Costa, produced by Air. Very charming, very relaxing, certainly sexy, and subtly psychedelic. If you like Stereolab but sometimes wish they'd drop this static Krautrock grrove of theirs, then this one is for you. Brilliant album.

"le mans", the next generation, December 17, 2000
This review is from: Satelite 99 (Audio CD)
Ana d. is another Spanish singer the world should embrace. The problem is that all those latin bon bon shakers leave so little space for the real artists. But why be negative? this is such positive music. It's for people who love their diva's human, sad and quite. When you had enough of your Streisands and Dions open your ears and you will be able to understand where Almodovar gets his ideas. This is a beautiful cd.
