Something great has become even better!,

I own every P.O.D. album and have been a fan (Warrior) since the original release of "Brown" on Rescue Records. I was lucky enough to see them play live while they were still playing only small venues. Of all their albums, Satellite is their best. I waited for months for Satellite to originally be released last year. Unfortunatly, the original release date was overshadowed by something much more dynamic. The original release date was September 11, 2001.Fortunately, the songs of faith, hope, and joy on Satellite helped me and so many others deal with the events of September 11. Songs like "Alive", "Youth Of The Nation", and "Satellite" not only have topped the charts and received a lot of MTV airplay; they have also touched many hearts with their honest and poignant lyrics. The song "Boom" has become an anthem heard in television shows and movies. Every review on this album also mentions the guest appearances by HR and Eek-a-mouse. Although I have been a Bad Brains and Eek-a-mouse fan since the 1980's, I still have to stress how impressive the guest appearance of Christian Lindskog is on the song "Anything Right". Christian Lindskog is the vocalist for the Swedish band "Blindside". Blindside is the first band to have a release on POD's own label "Three Point Records". If you like POD, I highly recommend "Silence" by Blindside. The songs "Without Jah, Nothin'", "Ghetto", and "Portrait" affirm POD's commitment to the everlasting truth of divine salvation. This Limited Edition CD has a few neat re-mixes of "Alive", "Youth Of The Nation", and my favorite, "Boom". The Crystal Method Remix of "Boom" is a lot of fun. This CD set also includes a DVD with four tracks of live concert footage and a short "behind the scenes" video. The behind the scenes video is something I really enjoyed. However, I hope POD soon releases a full length DVD that includes all their music videos along with old and new concert footage. A full length POD DVD is due soon. I hope the label realizes this and is planning it. With artists like Marilyn Manson and Eminem selling millions of albums that promote hate, violence, and sexual immorality, it is a awesome to see bands like POD and Sixpence None The Richer (whose new album is due out soon) continue to make a difference in popular music by promoting truth, love, and integrity.

I didn't really like P.O.D's 'The Fundamental Elements of Southtown' that much.It just wasen't anything special and most of the songs just sounded bland. However, this is a great improvement over The Fundamental Elements of Southtown, and a great buy if you are in to rock music. Some songs are very memerable and not really forgettable. The bonus tracks are alright. There are three bonus tracks. Two are remixes of 'Boom' and 'The Youth of The Nation',while the other bonus track is a accustic version of 'Alive'.Plus, this comes with a great DVD of P.O.D playing live.If you havent been to a P.O.D concert, its a great way to see what its like to be at one.I think the bonus DVD is cool.If you have the original version of Setellite, though,I don't think you need this one.The minor upgrades are cool, but not worth spending [any more] on.I am happy I bought this album, because I was ready not to because I didn't like their last album that much but I still gave this a chance. And I like it,too! So yeah, its worth buying.4 Stars is what I rate it.

P.O.D.'s finest hour,
By A. Estes (Maine) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Satellite (Limited Edition w/ Bonus DVD) (Audio CD)
Following up the success of 1999's 'The Fundamental Elements Of Southtown,' P.O.D. kicked things up a notch with their fourth release 'Satellite.' Evolving from their rap-metal roots, this effort focuses more on melodies, hooks and all around better song writing. Once you get past the ham-fisted rap-rock of "Boom" and "Set It Off," you will find a wealth of melodic and heavy songs about faith and positivity. The best feature about P.O.D.'s music is that, even though they are a Christian band, you don't have to be Christian to appreciate their music (I'm not). Sure, they may make music about their faith in God, but they don't come off as preachy and you can put your own meaning to a lot of the songs. They have universal appeal. The singles "Alive" and "Satellite" have always been favorites of mine. They perfectly represent what the band is all about and what they are capable of. Other tracks like "The Messenjah" and "Portrait" have the band getting a little heavier than usual with some stellar songwriting intact, while "Anything Right" gets a hand from Christian from Blindside (who is, incidentally, a Christian) and is the most intense track the band has recorded to date. 'Satellite' is easily P.O.D.'s best work. It is my opinion that they lost their magic when they ditched their former guitarist Marcos Curiel. Their new guitarist is good enough, but Curiel had such a signature sound and his riffs were massive and carried the songs like a wave. I seriously doubt they will be able to capture the lightning in the bottle again. This album marks a period in time where the band was in top form, both artistically and commercially. It was once of the best rock albums of 2001 and since it was released on September 11th, it became the perfect soundtrack for people looking for something a little more positive and uplifting. The Limited Edition is a nice package. My original copy was severely scratched, so when I bought a new copy, this version was the natural choice. All 15 of the original tracks are here, along with three bonus tracks: "Alive (Semi-Acoustic)," "Youth Of The Nation (Conjure One Mix)," remixed by Fear Factory producer Rhys Fulber, and the Crystal Method remix of "Boom." All the remixes are decent, the "Alive" version being the best. The bonus DVD is decent. I don't usually put too much stock into these things, so this one fairs well. We get four live performances and a mediocre "Inside The Satellite" feature that doesn't tell us anything we already don't know. But all in all, it's a worthy package.

POD-Satellite(limited edition w/ bonus tracks and dvd),
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Satellite (Limited Edition w/ Bonus DVD) (Audio CD)
I just bought this cd because i had lost the old Satellite, and this is even better. It is basically just Satellite with remixes and a dvd. If you haven't heard Satellite, it was one of the best albums of '01, and this upgrades a good thing. My favorites include the new single, Satellite; Anything Right featuring Christian of blindside(check out their records too); the headbanging opener, Set It Off, and the Chrystal Method's remix of boom(way better than the original). The remix of their breakthrough single, alive, sounds almost exactly like the original, but I did like the remix of Youth of the Nation somewhat. This album is worth every single penny, even if you own the original Satellite.

This Is One Excellent CD,

If you arw debating wehter to get this cd or not, this is the review to look at. If you are looking for energy-packed metal with lyrics and messages in the songs that you can play in front of your parents, this is it. Thanks to P.O.D.'s talent, they combine and collaborate metal, energy, meledy, and some rapcore with a good christian message into a type of genre that is a unique sound which P.O.D. is known and loved for. But if you don't believe me just look at the bands they toured with, which opened for P.O.D. bands like Svendust, Coal Chamber, Static X, and many others have OPENED for POD. They have also been on tour at Ozzfest. This cd is a masterpeice and should be reconized. This cd doubles as a dvd and has extra tracks. I would highly reccomend this cd. And if you already have it other rock bands with clean lyrics are Blinside, Kutless, Project 86, Thousand-Foot Krutch, 12 Stones, Living Sacrifice, Soul Embraced, Pillar, Junker Jorge,Pax 2:17, Underoath, Toby Mac, and Chevell who in on the recent Ozzfest.

P.O.D. ROCKS!!!!!! THIS IS THE BEST OF GOOD CLEAN METAL!,
By Jamie X-Treme (Crossett, AR United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Satellite (Limited Edition w/ Bonus DVD) (Audio CD)
P.O.D. doesn't swear in any of their music, but they are one of the finest heavy metal bands around. The album itself gets an easy 5 stars. The DVD, however, gets only 3 1/2 stars. Here's why: On the CD song # 4 (Youth of the Nation) is very moving and beautifully played. However, on the DVD, Youth of the Nation (LIVE) doesn't sound as well. The DVD doesn't have too many good features, so if I were you, I'd simply just buy the album without the DVD. P.O.D. Satellite is simply awesome. That's all I can say about it. Songs like: Set It Off, Boom, Masterpiece Conspiracy, Alive, and many others are all beautifully played and wonderfully sung.

The limited editon makes a good album, BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Satellite (Limited Edition w/ Bonus DVD) (Audio CD)
Pretty much the only additions to the album are 3 bonus tracks ("semi-acoustic" version of "Alive", Conjure One's remix of Youth of the Nation, turns the song into a really rap sounding song, and The Crystal Method remix of "BOOM") and the bonus disc is a DVD with 4 live performances from Germany (in 5.1 or Stereo, both sound very good) and a quick 10-15 minute BEHIND-THE-SCENES documentary called "Into The Satellite"). I think this disc is a preview for what's about to come this fall, when P.O.D. releases their first full-length DVD! which will probably have all this and more!). I recommend the LE only to hardcore P.O.D. fans. If you don't have the album yet, get this version. If you do and you're a hardcore fan then pick it up anyway, because it is a great edition. I already own the original version which was kind of lacking (HELLO, THE ACOUSTIC VERSION WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE FOR A LE BACK IN SEPTEMBER 01!)M. This is the best P.O.D. album yet!

Here's a testament to the power of positivity. When I've had days that try my faith, I know I can listen to this CD and reflect on the world we live in; the better overpowering the worst. The words used and the delivery of POD's frontman are unparalleled in any of their other recordings. The live performances on the DVD are pretty awesome, too.
