retro-retro garage psych!!, April 16, 2009

I think they're from Germany--doesn't matter. This is great garage psych in the mold of the eighties garage psych which was in the mold of the sixties garage psych. Ah, the recycling of culture. But these guys are strong-headed and mindful of their dues to such greats as the Miracle Workers, Fuzztones, Chesterfield Kings, et al. This is not your typical lo-fi garage-rock-wanna-be dumpster chicken. These guys care--it's in their attitude and approach. Fuzz guitars, solid drumming, and the vocals are superb. Grab their full length releases (although I don't care much for the "Wylde" release--far too freshman). Lee Joseph and his label Dionysius has given us another great moment in the unending recycling of pop culture--I mean, the grittiest and best aspects of a time long gone.
