I discovered KittyMonkey one day while reading through a Tori Amos forum -- someone posted a link to their download page. Curious, I took a look.

The tracks there (Else, Wednesday, Authentic, Sugar Rush, Belikeu) blew me away. This is unique artistry -- techno-pop with the very sexy voice of Heidi-Louise Margocsy heating things up.

(Let me make one thing clear -- this isn't Tori Amos-type music. I love Tori, but this is totally different -- more wall of sound, more techno, more pop oriented, more hooks, more accessible. Some angst, sure, but come on ...)

Margocsy's voice is the key, for sure. This Australian singer brings a crystal-clear sound above the techno hooks. Quiet simply, she sounds blazingly hot. And yikes, she sure shakes up the techno coolness of the background.

Comparison? Maybe a combination of Garbage and the late, great English pop-techno band Lush.

The lead song of the CD, "Else," is a shocker, establishing the techno theme, with driving guitar hooks and the wonderful sound of Margocsy's voice. The hooks -- tempo changes and pleading lyrics -- reel you in.

I can't see how this single song didn't drive Kittymonkey into the big time.

Track after track, the sound is mesmerizing. Highlights: a soft "Wednesday" (and then the way Margocsy sings "I will run away from YOU" ... ouch!), haunting "Seamless", nearly psychedelic and definitely gritty "Belikeu."

I took a recent look at their Website. The Boston-based band is still playing small venues -- nightclubs and even bowling alleys!

Not for long. There is tremendous talent displayed on this CD. This band is going to make it -- big.

All I can say is go and listen for yourself. One time around, and you are hooked.
