5.0 out of 5 stars A simple allegory
... If you are open minded about spiritual principles, this book will probably appeal to you.

Pike made his name (as we all know) by writing teenage hack-and-slash horror. And it was ok, but never fabulous. When I came across Sati at the library one day, I expected more of the same. What I got, however, was a book that I found to be deeply spiritual and achingly...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good book

What if God were one of us? It has happened before. If you read the bible, then you know. And no, I am not talking about Jesus. Anywho, I really liked this book. I adored Sati. She was a bit strange but she did what she came to do.

I admit that some things that she did where not all god like. There were some parts that had me raising my eyebrows. I...

... If you are open minded about spiritual principles, this book will probably appeal to you.

Pike made his name (as we all know) by writing teenage hack-and-slash horror. And it was ok, but never fabulous. When I came across Sati at the library one day, I expected more of the same. What I got, however, was a book that I found to be deeply spiritual and achingly lovely.

Since then, I have loaned the book to many friends, bought copies for others, and read it aloud to my boyfriend on a road trip. This is the kind of book you just want to share. Sati is a young woman who claims to be God, and she comes to earth with a simple message. We exist to increase her joy, which is already infinite.

Is Sati god? Or isn't she? I don't know, but I wish she weren't fiction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes, life changing., April 24, 2002

If you read only one book, read Sati.

Read it with a completely open heart and mind. Listen to it. Understand it.

I wish I could afford to buy Sati in great big boxes and hand it out to people. I want the whole world to read it and understand it. I want it to be in every language. I want to learn languages so I can translate it.

Please. Read it.

And if you read two books, read Sati and then Anthem, by Ayn Rand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still my favorite book., November 13, 2004
This review is from: Sati: A Novel (Hardcover)
I first read this book when I was in 8th grade. I'm 26 now, so granted that was some time ago.. but over the years, I cannot begin to count all of the times I have read and re-read this book.

It's a fantastic and well-written novel that I think everyone should read; it's enlightening, and it's one of those books that once you pick it up, you just can't put it down until you're finished.

Read this book, if it's the only book you EVER read. Then you'll understand why I'm so over-the-top about it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Deep Once You Look Beneath the Surface, November 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Sati (Mass Market Paperback)
I must disagree that Pike directed this book towards a Christian audience. In fact, I don't think Pike was writing this novel with any religious group in mind. The only requirement of his readers is that they be openminded. After all, the more close-minded members of some religions might find the themes of this novel offensive. I think his intent was to challenge readers to think about life from a different perspective, regardless of religious background. And when are people going to realise that big words and flowery language do not constitute depth? The richness of this novel comes from its simplicity. I much prefer people who are able to get the point across in a simple, yet artful manner, to those who become muddled in their attempt at sounding deep or intelligent. This book achieves depth without it being forced. It flows forth naturally. All in all, this is a wonderfully challenging yet simple novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life Changing, February 26, 2002

This is one of the most well written novels that I have ever read. It changed my whole perspective on the world and gave a clear sense of what is real, in a world where so much is fleeting. Christopher Pike makes it believable that this blonde, blue eyed girl could be God. There is a lyrical quality to the book that will haunt you days, months and even years after you put it down. It is one of my all time favorite Christopher Pike novels. It's a must read for anyone who has ever wondered what it would be like to meet God. There is no novel that has touched me more, at so many different levels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top marks, May 4, 2006
This review is from: Sati (Mass Market Paperback)
I have read all the recent books on spirituality and found them useless. I am so lucky to have found this book. It is so wonderful in the way it is written, the depth of wisdom, the storyline and the characters. It holds the wisdom of the centuries in such a simple book. It is so life changing and touching. Five stars is not enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, November 2, 2001
This review is from: Sati (Mass Market Paperback)
Christopher Pike has always had a wonderful and unique way of writing all his books. Every single one is different in their styles. Sati is a wonderful book about a young lady who is picked up by a trucker on the highway and is brought home to stay with. She is mysterious and comes with no possessions except the cloths that she wears and the shoes on her feet. She also makes a startling announcement. That she is God. Throughout the book she manages to do wonderful things with the people she comes in contact with A very wonderful story that everyone must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for all readers, July 7, 2003
This review is from: Sati: A Novel (Hardcover)
This book is by far one of the best I have ever read, and I was very sorry to have it end. It shows all sorts of types of people can see the world the same without offending anyone. Especially those overly-religious types...I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is even the least bit philosophical!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect, August 9, 2003
By
This review is from: Sati (Mass Market Paperback)
I find it difficult to summarise how amazing a book this is. Compared to all the spiritual books these days, recent and past this book is on a league of its own. There is only one book in this league. It does not preach, does not lecture but subtly provides guidance, inspiration and happiness in a way no other book, I have read does. It really can be a vehicle for change. Forget the rest, this is easily the best, by far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sati, March 10, 2001

As a dedicated Pike fan, I read this novel, and loved it. I found it different, in the way that it was softer than his usual work, yet still carried that same magic I love in his works. It explored his philosophical side more, and opened new doors in my mind. It leaves you with something to wonder about not only the world, but what you have come to believe in your life. The magical woman, Sati, brings forth many questions for you to look deep inside your self for answers. This books is as magical and mystical as all his other writings, yet is different in wonderful new way.
