A professional product, a dystopian look at the future of man,
By "The Ninth Doctor" (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Satirica (Hardcover)
Satirica is a gigantic 24 Story, Hardcover Science Fiction collection with a focus not only on the satirical and speculative nature of things to come concerning political, religious, and social issues, but a profound awareness of how humans interact -- or how humanity is to be perceived -- when put to the test in futuristic (post-apocalyptic), character-driven dystopias; some even heavily reliant on Ancient Myth and Tribal Tradition (e.g., The Native Americans, The Phoenicians). Many of the stories are offbeat, different, surreal, somewhat Slipstream, and offer a wide variety of opinions and different perspectives as to where we're at and what's yet to come. Most of all where WE, as a race, DEFINE ourselves and in what direction our very own personal discoveries allow us to be headed.
It is, indeed, a must own collection for any enthusiast of the literary form. Many of the authors within its pages are certified and proven professionals and semi-professionals with a track record from a long range of magazines and webzines, and to see them all in one grandiose collection, is remarkable above words. |
