5.0 out of 5 stars The Meters doing Honky Tonk Women is worth the price of admission
Hearing The Meters doing Honky Tonk Women is worth the price of admission. Same with Odetta and her version of No Expectations. Hearing Merry Clayton sing lead vocal on Gimme Shelter is the cherry on top of the whip cream. A very cool compilation of covers of classic Stones material

3.0 out of 5 stars Why is this a Double CD?
OK, I love the Rolling Stones. I love COVERS of Rolling Stones songs. And some of these are great - they touch upon the hard-hitting sound of the Stones, and take it even further - some of these tracks would sound right at home in a blaxploitation film like "Superfly". OK, I love the Rolling Stones. I love COVERS of Rolling Stones songs. And some of these are great - they touch upon the hard-hitting sound of the Stones, and take it even further - some of these tracks would sound right at home in a blaxploitation film like "Superfly". There are even some very subtle nods to other songs, the cover of "Satisfaction" by Assemble contains a bass line very similar to "Dear Prudence" and Muddy Waters' "Let's Spend the Night Together" reminded me a lot of "Sunshine of Your Love".
But WHY is this a 2-CD set? The second CD contains the EXACT same songs as the first CD does, just arranged in a different order. It's labeled as "4Hero Mix" but the songs sound exactly the same to me. If I wanted to hear the tracks in a different order, I could just PROGRAM MY CD PLAYER or my iTunes to play them in whatever order I like.
Don't buy this thinking you're getting 30 songs, there are really only 15. If that's worth the money to you, then go ahead. Funky covers of the Rolling Stones are fine, but don't make me pay twice for the same disc.
