4.0 out of 5 stars Witty and engaging romance
There have been plenty of accidents and strange occurrences on the set of Georgiana Mundy's top rated culinary show. The management has hired Ethan Darling's company to provide security for Georgie. One look at the woman and the normally office bound Ethan is ready to assign the case to himself. But Georgie, the former flame of a small time gangster is hiding a secret...

2.0 out of 5 stars Women in Jeopardy, not romantic comedy
I'm hooked on romantic comedy, and I'm always looking for new authors, so when I saw all the 5-star reviews, I gave this a chance. The way this book is presented is deceptive. It's all about danger and violence with very little humor, and the characters are not fleshed out at all. I guess there are four main characters (hard to tell, given how thin this is); all four...

There have been plenty of accidents and strange occurrences on the set of Georgiana Mundy's top rated culinary show. The management has hired Ethan Darling's company to provide security for Georgie. One look at the woman and the normally office bound Ethan is ready to assign the case to himself. But Georgie, the former flame of a small time gangster is hiding a secret which Ethan plans to discover. Now if he can just survive all Georgie's odd friends and brush up on his feng shui skills...

Stillings latest (a follow up to "Arousing Suspicions" featuring his brother Nate Darling) is another funny romantic comedy heavy on the laughs and sensuality. With lots of red herrings, the reader will have plenty of potential suspects to choose from. Stillings' gift for witty dialogue moves the story along as the duo one ups each other one scene after another.

5.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 Blue Ribbons from Romance Junkies!, January 17, 2008
This review is from: Satisfaction (Mass Market Paperback)
Ethan Darling is the hero in this light and rousingly sexy romp by Marianne Stillings. The hottest private eye around, Ethan has met his match in Feng Shui guru Georgiana Mundy.

Private investigator Ethan Darling has been called to the local television station by the station manager. It seems that the local sweetheart and cooking show host Georgie Mundy has been having a bit of set trouble. Someone is sabotaging her ingredients and Ethan has been given the task of finding the culprit. It would help matters if the pretty in pink vision that stumbles into his arms and steps on his feet was anyone other than the woman he is assigned to. He can't stop thinking about her eyes and how she smells. He has to get her out of his head because if Ethan knows one thing about himself it's that he doesn't do relationships and he never falls in love. Evidently his heart isn't listening to that rule.

Georgie has a secret. Several in fact. And keeping her secrets is important. Sure, someone is messing with her sets, and quite honestly, Georgie doesn't know why. She has bigger fish to hide from - namely her ex boyfriend and nemesis, Paul Corcoran. Paul can't find out what Georgie has carefully kept secreted away in another city. Now if she can just get Ethan Darling to leave her alone and stop following her around. Although, if Georgie were to be honest, Ethan does kiss pretty well and he isn't a hardship on the eyes. It's just too bad she doesn't need him. Or does she?

Ethan and Georgie agree to disagree on her protection. Mishaps follow them around but there is one thing for certain. Each is falling for the other and if they can just let themselves forget about their differences for a little while, they might find out they are more compatible than they realize.

Marianne Stillings has me totally and completely hooked on her writing. She has the uncanny ability to take serious issues and suspenseful storylines and fill them with fun and comedy and just plain sassy situations. SATISFACTION is this type of novel. Ethan's first scene with Georgiana is a comedy of errors just waiting to happen and more than once I laughed out loud at their antics. Both characters are afraid of relationships and vulnerability, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching them fall in love. SATISFACTION was just an all around perfect read for me. It made me laugh, I got teary eyed, and I swooned at Ethan's manliness. Not a bad gig for a book reviewer!

SATISFACTION released from Avon Books in November 2007. While it visits characters from her previous release, AROUSING SUSPICIONS, this book can be completely read alone. Don't miss it!

I'm hooked on romantic comedy, and I'm always looking for new authors, so when I saw all the 5-star reviews, I gave this a chance. The way this book is presented is deceptive. It's all about danger and violence with very little humor, and the characters are not fleshed out at all. I guess there are four main characters (hard to tell, given how thin this is); all four of them dwell on horrible events in their pasts (I was going to say they are tortured by the past, but that would be too much emotion. This is one of those books where the author tells you what characters feel, rather than demonstrating it). There are two kidnappings and two murderers (even though one only plans to murder the heroine before he is killed himself - by a character who comes out of nowhere). Two trusted characters betray the hero and heroine - oh wait one betrayal only seems like a betrayal - my bad! It's all twists and turns with no development of characters or relationships and if that's what you like, go for it. But it's not funny - there are about three conversations where Stillings tries for cleverness - and she never makes you care about what happens. In this case "light-hearted romp" seems to mean terrible things happen again and again but nobody is affected by them. Including the reader.

Ethan is PI who is hired to investiage strange mixs-up with Georgie cooking show. As the mystery unfolds, Georgie and Ethan fight and fall in lust with each other...laugh out loud moments! I actually did not have this mystery solved until almost the end - lots of people to suspect! I love Ethan edgy personality - a great book, Enjoy!

Now I have to wait until September for the last of the Darling Detective Trilogy. Here is the list of trilogy Arousing Suspicions(1), Satisfaction(2) and Killer Charms (3~due out September 2008).

I would also recommended; Spirited Away by Cindy Miles, Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye by Victoria Laurie and The Remains of the Dead: A Ghost Dusters Mystery by Wendy Roberts.

3.0 out of 5 stars I should feel satisfied, right?, May 4, 2010
This review is from: Satisfaction (Mass Market Paperback)
It is a toss-up. I read the book and then lent it to my 24 year old daughter. She loves contemporary romances with humor and thought it was nice. I love to try any romances with humor and thought it was so-so. You can read the product description or other reviewers for their summary of the story.

While the dynamic was set up between private eye Ethan Darling and TV host/culinary queen Georgina Mundy should have been a good one I just didn't feel much for either of the characters. The flow of the story felt stilted. I don't like it when I read a book and finish part of the story and think, "hmmm, why did the author put that part in, it wasn't necessary...". That happened more than once. The side story of Lucas and Raine felt like a puzzle piece fit in during a time when the author thought the plot needed more "oomph". The romantic plot aside, the mystery element wasn't bad but I figured it out halfway through. Again, it was nothing exceptional.

Perhaps because I read many more books than my daughter or maybe it is my age but I have become pickier about what I like when I read a book. My view of SATISFACTION is the result of a lack of emotional response to the material. I would give it two stars only because it had potential. Since my daughter liked the book I am going to bump it to three.

I am a part of all that I have met. ~Alfred Lord Tennyson

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful tale!, January 23, 2009

This is my second book by Marianne Stillings and definitely won't be the last! The story of Georgie and Ethan was fabulous. It was tender and engaging, but also very sexy. Ethan was a tortured soul in need of saving and boy did Georgie save him. Marianne Stillings really knows how to weave any excellent tale and keep you totally engrossed in the story. This is definitely one of those books you need to plan on doing nothing else but reading it! Thank goodness for Hamburger Helper--I didn't want to pry myself away from it too long.
Another keeper author for me! If you like the tales of Erin McCarthy, Susan Donovan, Lori Foster, Rachel Gibson, Susan Andersen then please add Marianne to your list of authors to read! You won't be disappointed.

This is the first book I have read of Marianne Stillings and I enjoyed it so much, I have already ordered 2 more. She has likable characters and mixes fun, romance and drama so a reader can run the whole gambit of emotions and feel satisfied at the ending. All in all a very good read and I will keep my eye on her other books.

I put Marianne Stillings in the same category as some of my other favorite authors, Nancy Warren, Amey Garvey, Susan Donavon, Erin McCarthy, Susan Andersen, Christie Craig & Lori Foster. They all write books that are hard to put down and easy to get lost in when you need a break in your day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Satisfying Satisfaction!, February 15, 2008

I bought this book on a whim and I am so glad I did. I am an avid romance reader and this is one of the best books I have read in awhile. It was full of everything you want in a romance - a good storyline, characters you just fall in love with, and some hot and heavy romance. Not only was it chock full of the romance, but I was laughing out loud quite a few times, which is rare. Quite worth the money!
