Excellent 2nd Album by DecembeRadio,
By
This review is from: Satisfied (MP3 Download)
DecembeRadio is one of the best new "southern" rock bands to emerge in the last few years along with NEEDTOBREATHE, Grey Holiday, Jackson Waters and Remedy Drive, all favorites of mine. If you are in your 30's or older like me, then this Grammy nominated and Dove Award winning band (Best Rock Album 2006) will also remind you of playing air guitar (we didn't have Guitar Hero) along with legendary classic rock bands Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kansas, Boston, Bad Company, AC/DC and Kiss with their guitar crunching rock (think "All Right Now" by Free) and also their beautiful rock ballads (think "Waiting For A Girl Like You" by Foreigner).
Satisfied is an excellent 2nd album by a great rock band. I would welcome an opportunity to see this band live as the energy just resonates from every song. The opener Better Man is a great example of straight up rock with a great message. The next track, Satisfy Me is one of the best southern rock songs I've heard in the last 10 years. Amazing anthem and guitar work. Believer and For Your Glory are a couple more of the stand-out songs to me. Both are anthemic and personal and have excellent worship lyrics. Gasoline and Falling For You keep the rock going, and the album closes with the excellent ballad and hit song Find You Waiting. For me this album just misses my top 10 of 2008 and I score it 90% out of 100%, 4 1/2 stars.

Southern fried christian rock,
This review is from: Satisfied (Audio CD)
With their sophomore release "Satisfied", Decemberadio has managed to inject another dose of Southern Rock into Christian rock music. At times agressive, other times mellow, this album is chock full of tasty and thoroughly enjoyable Christian rock! The fast paced "Satisfy Me" is filled with a frenetic energy not found on many other albums, and decidedly Southern Rock like in tone. I Love It! You could easily hear many of the songs on this album played right along classics such as "Sweet Home Alabama", or even "Freebird". Fans of southern rock, will surely enjoy this album from start to finish.
Now, all this does not in the least detract from the message in the music. Their love of God is right up front, and unmistakeable, and quite refreshing. There are many Christian rock efforts that are less forthright in their message, but that is not the case with "Satisfied". It puts a smile on my face just thinking about the joy, passion, energy, and love presented in the music of Decemberadio.

Good, but a little bit of a letdown after debut,
By
This review is from: Satisfied (Audio CD)
Admittedly, I run the risk of sounding like a disgruntled "stuck in the past" listener when I compare this album to their self-titled debut. But my problem isn't that they changed their sound, it's that they changed their production values. The debut had a nice raw sound (not garage-style raw, but live-in-the-studio raw) that had a lot of life. This album sounds a little too slick and overproduced for my taste. There's no doubt these guys are incredibly talented. There are some really good songs on here that I imagine would sound great in a live setting, but they get buried beneath the radio-friendly mix. Which is ironic, because in an interview, the guys said they wanted to make songs that they could easily reproduce live. Apart from the Gospel choir on "Love Found Me" I think that honor goes to the first album hands-down.
I honestly don't have a problem with a band modifying their sound so that they don't make the same album time after time. But, when you've got a southern rock band that suddenly sounds grit-free, there's a problem.

More than Satisfied,

About a year ago I picked up DecembeRadio's self-titled album,DecembeRadio (Expanded Edition), and was impressed. I had originally bought the album for the song "Drifter" (as did many others) and was pleasantly surprised that the band well known for this mellow, southern rock hit produced an album containing mostly harder rock songs. It was above fantastic for a freshman effort (yes, I am aware of the earlier independent releases which I am not counting).
This year's release, however, has blown me away! The band has shown great maturity by including songs that fit the whole range of their "southern rock" genre. Soft ballads such as "Love Can" and the hit single "Find You Waiting" are balanced with power anthems like "Believer" and "Powerful Thing" as well as the intense "Gasoline." Through varied lyrical styles and a vast depth of emotion, the boys of DecembeRadio express their faith, love, and devotion to Christ in every song and wrap it all up with a classic jam session like the one at the end of their self-titled album.

It's like Christian Black Crowes!,

If you like southern rock and want Christian lyrics, this is the album for you. Songs 1-5 won't leave you sitting still. I heard these songs performed live before I heard the album. Bought the album at the concert where the band signed my cd. I made a "backup" copy to play in the truck and leave the original disc and case in mint condition. This band will go far. Trust me.
I grew up on the Crowes, Led Z, Lynard Skynard, etc. DecembeRadio is a wonderful replacement with uplifting lyrics. Buy it now!

Satisfied is a solid effort from December Radio. They have some strong songs that make you proud to be a believer in God. This album is fun southern rock with a good mix of slower ballads.

Third Day, look out! You seem to have some great competition! I got this and their debut album not knowing at all what to expect. Wow, these guys rock! They have an awesome ability to draw in a Third Day and Jeremy Camp/Kutless fan and captivate me song after song! Their message from one song to the next stays on the Love of God and Jesus and about Him drawing us to His side in our worst of times. The fact that I'm a Virginian myself, which is where these guys came from was what orginally caught my interest. I pray you keep on rocking on for Jesus and don't let anyone change your message. These guys are for real!

This album will definitely leave you Satisfied!,

So a couple of years ago Decemberadio burst on to the scene with their self-titled debut majoring in Southern-fried hard rock. It was a good album and a breathe of fresh because they rocked hard but were upfront with their message and didn't pull any punches. You knew where they stood. Two years later Decemberadio is back releasing their sophmore follow-up, Satisfied, and I must say this album has left me satisfied.
The music is still edgy but very melodic. They also weave in more soulful touches that are similar to Love Found Me. However, they cut loose and just rock out as well. The guitar solos are just good as alst time. They have weaved in more anthems and ballads this time as well. The album as a whole is about 2 songs longer, which are the 2 additional ballads. The Production on this album has stepped up a notch this time as well. You can tell they spent more time on each song. In fact I don't think there is a bad song in the bunch. The song writing has improved this time as well. If its possible I think they are more up front about their beliefs but it never comes across as preachy. I think that there aren't any songs that feel like they were just thrown on there at the end like the last cd did on a couple of songs. Overall though the boys of Decemberadio have put put another good album. If you enjoy your music with some southern crunch and alot of melody then these guys are for you.

Another Great CD by DecembeRadio,
This review is from: Satisfied (MP3 Download)
I've been listening to DecembeRadio since late 2005 when I heard them play live in Georgia. Satisfied contains music to fit just about anyone's musical taste. But if you tend to lean toward hard rock, you'll really enjoy several of the more upbeat selections although the CD has some more mellow songs as well. Some say the lyrics are rather simple, but I like it that way. I don't want to have to spend alot of time trying to figure out what message a song is trying to convey. The CD is a bunch of good ole boys playing southern rock and telling about the Christian faith. Don't delay, buy the CD today.

The future of Contemporary Christian music is HERE!,
By
This review is from: Satisfied (Audio CD)
If you haven't heard of Decemberadio yet, you will! They have come quite a long way from the teenaged-boy garage band playing for local churches in southwest Virginia to the band you see here, having toured recently with Third Day.
This CD has something for everyone: you can rock out, smooth out, get country, funky, or a little bit Beatles. But, no matter what the musical style (and they can do it ALL), the message is steadfast. No matter where you are or what you're dealing with, Jesus Christ is the answer. I have the unique honor of knowing Brian, Josh, Eric and Boone. They are incredible young men of God, and a strong witness for Christ to today's youth. They love family, music and their fans. As good as the CD is, they are even better live. Decemberadio's music and message will leave you satisfied. |
