More About the Author

Welcome!

I'm so glad and honored that you have visited my author page.

I have been writing plays and short stories for many years, some of which are published in short story collections.

My first novel, TAKE THE MONKEYS AND RUN, is a comedy-mystery, inspired, to some degree by a true monkey sighting in my own neighborhood. Because I love to laugh as well as make other people laugh, I have great fun writing the characters Barbara Marr, her friends and her adversaries. When I set out to write this book, I knew I wanted to write something that readers would say, "Now that was FUN." I HOPE I have achieved that goal. And if I did, please feel free to drop me a line at and let me know! I love to hear from readers. (especially if they LIKE the book!)

Books in the Barbara Marr series are: TAKE THE MONKEYS AND RUN (#1), CITIZEN INSANE (#2), AND SILENCED BY THE YAMS (#3), and SATURDAY NIGHT CLEAVER (#4). The fifth book, DEAD MAN STALKING, will be released September of 2014. You can also enjoy a Barbara Marr short story collection, THE CHRONICLES OF MARR-NIA, as well two holiday short stories, IT'S A DUNDER-BULL WIFE and BJORN!ON THE FOURTH OF JULY. All are available on Amazon for Kindle.

Again, thank you for stopping by!

This book was great! It had me laughing so hard. I loved the similies the author used. i think this is my favorite book by Karen Cantwell yet. I am so glad I took a chance on her first book and have since been able to enjoy the whole series.

Karen delivered another great book. The Barbara Marr series gets better and better. I read the book in one day, and was sad to see it end. I love the pace and cleverness of the dialogue. Can't wait until the next book.

Rustic Woods has never been the same since Barbara Marr first found monkeys in her yard, and now she's found a few dismembered male parts on the walking path behind her house. This time, instead of following her curiosity, Barbara wants nothing to do with solving the identity of the victim. Howard is still recovering from his accident at the end of the last installment, and Barbara is convinced she's in the early throws of menopause. When their best friend Colt goes missing, Barbara and Howard can't help but start an investigation into his disappearance.

After reading the previous installments of the Barbara Marr series, I was slightly disappointed in this book. I felt like it wasn't given as much attention to detail like the previous books, especially when it came to Barbara's character. The story was good, but I was irritated with Barbara's constant moodiness and how everything just fell into place for her. With a little bit more creativity, I would of given the book all five stars.

I loved every single previous book before this one. For some reason story was kind of boring and not really interesting. I didn't really care for this book. I just finished it last night and frankly I don't remember what was it about.

I loved the first three Barbara Marr books. This book is the 4th in the series and it isn't as funny as the others. I hope the fifth one is as good as the first three.

Ordinarily I love Barbara Marr mysteries but this one was a disappointment. It appeared to have been hastily slapped together. It was boring and predictable. Sad....

Barbar Marr is every woman! She has a husband, children, a family van, ups, downs, wants and needs! She is one of us! In this mystery, Barbara is again caught up, quite unintentionally, in a murder. This is a great story and you will love it!

If you've been a follower of this blog, or my Facebook page, then you already know I love Karen Cantwell. She's a wonderful lady and a wonderful author. I look forward to her Barbara Marr mysteries more than any other series I can think of.

Want to know a big moment for me? I was asked to Beta read this one. Oh yeah, I was squealing like a little girl. But she ran out of time so I only got a review copy. Yeah, I'm not complaining.

It's great. Barbara finds herself in trouble, again. But this time she's with her husband. And he's not telling her no, or keeping her out of it. He has her help him. I think he's stir crazy, honestly. There are more surprising angles than ever before, and you will be shocked right to the very end. And best of all? It also stays pretty silly.

So you will laugh and laugh and gasp. ;) Right now it's only $1.00, easy investment for some relaxation during these holidays.
