4.0 out of 5 stars Terrific CD!!!, February 5, 2005
This review is from: Saturday Night Blast (Audio CD)
Ron Dante is one of the best singers around! This CD is even better than his last one, "Favorites". Here he sings oldies in his own terrific style. I wish he would do more recordings and get more popular!!! This is great!!

4.0 out of 5 stars dynamite, July 10, 2007
This review is from: Saturday Night Blast (Audio CD)
I ordered this cd and waited a week for it to be delivered. When the cd arrived I started to play the cd. Lately my 19year old daughter has been singing mony, mony and my husband heard "I have never been loved like this before" sung by andy kim originally! This is on the album, overall very good value for the small amount of money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice Indeed, April 19, 2005

Ron's latest release of more of his "favorites" includes some great medleys, the best of which is "Old Time Rock & Roll/Mony, Mony". He and Andy Kim re-make Andy's former #1 hit "Rock Me Gently". Other highlights include a remake of a Pablo Cruise pleaser "I Go To Rio". The pace really picks up with "Tear Up The Dance Floor" then slides into two fine ballads "Even After" and "Don't Lose Heart". I recommend this one along with Ron Dante's "Favorites" album. You can also visit his site at RonDante.com to purchase it with an autograph.

5.0 out of 5 stars More Favorites From Ron!, October 5, 2004

Ron Dante was the lead singer of The Archies, but if you think of him as just a singer of bubblegum and nothing else, you're in for a pleasant surprise. Ron's talents are multifaceted, and the light sounds he's best known for are just one aspect of his diversity. If his previous CD offering, "Favorites," didn't show you the proof, then this one, "Ron Dante's Saturday Night Blast," definitely will!

"Ron Dante's Saturday Night Blast" has a little bit of everything. If you like dancing hard and fast with the strobe light flashin', just crank up the first couple of tracks, medleys of "Old Time Rock and Roll/Mony Mony" and "Rockin' Robin/Little Bitty Pretty One" (the latter featuring Peter Noone on backgrounds) and grab your baby for some energetic jitterbugging! If, on the other hand, you'd rather cuddle on the couch in front of a warm, cozy fire, you'll want to have the lovely ballads "Even After" and "Don't Lose Heart," both penned by Ron himself along with the late Bob Merrill, playing in the background. Speaking of ballads, Ron's beautiful version of "Angels Among Us" is alone worth the price of the CD, as is Ron's duet with fellow Archies bandmate Toni "I'm gonna make your life so sweet" Wine on "Summer in the City." And, speaking of "Sugar, Sugar," you can also find that song's co-composer, Andy Kim, singing along with Ron on his own hit "Rock Me Gently."

Some more fast dancing can be had with Ron's rockin' renditions of "I Go to Rio" and "Tear Up the Dance Floor." There's "Happy Together" (fast) and "Anyone Can See" (slow). There's also a lovely tribute to the late, great Maurice Gibb with the medley "Words/To Love Somebody/If I Can't Have You;" a full version of the third song rounds out this collection.

If you only know Ron for his Archies and Cuff Links work, you'll want to grab a copy of this CD and enjoy becoming acquainted with his solo work. If you only know Ron for his years producing Barry Manilow, you'll want to grab a copy of this CD and enjoy his singing. If you already know Ron from his solo recordings, you'll want to grab a copy of this CD to add to your collection. "Ron Dante's Saturday Night Blast" ... is a blast!

Normally I cringe at cover albums but this one is a lot of fun. It's great to hear Dante's (lead singer of "The Archies") distinct singing voice once again. I especially love his version of "Rock Me Gently" which includes Andy Kim on back-up vocals.

4.0 out of 5 stars Still has a good singing voice, August 8, 2005
This review is from: Saturday Night Blast (Audio CD)
I like this album...Ron still has a very good singing voice...the "positioning" of the songs was very good. I like the album cover because whatever that black thing is on the top of his head is obviously a way of poking fun at the male hair styles of the mid-to-late 60s...nice touch!
