Traceable to the masked roleplaying of Greek theater, many of the sacred functions of mime in early rituals were carried into later secular performances. The second part looks at pantomime, from the shamans to modern theatrical performers such as Deburau and Marceau.

I found this book very much to my enjoy. I have always being doing pantomime, but never heard the "almost" complete story about this type of art. This women captures some of the earliest form of mime like if you were there, and gives you a root on where and how the art of the mime began since the beginning. Lots of references and resources included.
