5.0 out of 5 stars Slather yourself in "The Sauce"
"The Sauce" is the new solo effort (on MID-FI Recordings) by the Supersuckers-Vocalist/Bassist/Conversationalist extraordinare, Mr. Eddie Spaghetti.
Punk Rock? No. Music that'll scare the old folks at family reunions, etc? No.(well maybe Cocaine Blues and Killer Weed will get 'em a little nervous) Country? Yeah I guess that'd be fair.
The cd combines upbeat...

2.0 out of 5 stars Beware of EXTRA Sauce
I tried ordering the original version of this cd, The Sauce, three different times...each time I received EXTRA Sauce, which is the version with Mickey Raphael's over-the-top harmonica tracks laid in all over every song. Mickey may be a good player, but Eddie's original Sauce release stands tall (and much better) all on its own, sans the cheesy harmonica. The pic of the...

The cd combines upbeat "good ol' drinkin' songs" such as "Best Of All Possible Worlds" by Kris Kristofferson, Gotta Get Drunk" by Willie Nelson and "Little Ol' Wine Drinker, Me" by Mills/Jennings, with the Contemplative and Soulful, "Bottom Dollar" by D. Finely, "Misery and Gin" by John Durrill/Snuff Garrett, "I Don't Want To Lose You Yet" by Steve Earle and a real nice "acoustic" re-tooling of Eddie's "Sleepy Vampire." All this plus 5 more gems, one being "Killer Weed" another "Eddie" original.
Song/Stories that'll stick to your ribs, delivered in damn fine fashion by Eddie Spaghetti and alot of talented musicians including Rontrose Heathman, Mike Murderburger, Kurt Bloch and Quattro.(yeah even Eddie's son does a song-"Blue Shadows On The Trail" by Randy Newman)
So buy it, play it and slather yourself in "The Sauce" You'll be glad, damn glad that you did.

P.S. If you like the "Country" Supersuckers sound, check out "Must've Been High" and Must've Been Live."

5.0 out of 5 stars No need to hoot and holler, January 27, 2004

Let me start by saying that the Supersuckers' "La Mano Cornuda" is one of the greatest rock records ever made. However, after later being exposed to Eddie's country side with the brilliant "Must've Been High" release I've been hankerin' for more ever since. "Roadworn and Weary" and "Non-Addictive Marijuana" from that release are true genius. After a real good rock record "Motherf*ckers Be Trippin" (featuring "Pretty F'd Up" which should have been a SMASH), I was stoked to hear the next project would be countri-flavored. One of my two faves from MBT, "Sleepy Vampire", has been reworked here and is about the best song you'll hear out there, period. Usually rock singers shriek because they can't sing, Eddie is the exception. His "rock" voice is top notch and his "country" voice may be even better. Face it, the guy's versatile. This album is mostly covers but he makes most of them his own from the opening note. BUY IT NOW! Then buy "La Mano Cornuda", "Must've Been High" and "MFr's Be Trippin". If you don't....it will seriously cut into Eddie's drinking budget.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mmmmmmm, The Sauce Is Just Right, January 23, 2004

Although I never tire of listening to any of The Supersuckers' records, I have to say, "The Sauce" by Supersucker's frontman, Eddie Spaghetti, is just what I needed. The album contains mostly acoustic covers of great bluesy, country songs. Spaghetti's version of Steve Earle's "I Don't Want To Lose You Yet" brings tears to my eyes. Kris Kristofferson's "The Best Of All Possible Worlds" is perfect in Spaghetti's tuneful growl. My two favorite songs on the album are Eddie Spaghetti's own. "Sleepy Vampire", from The Supersuckers 2003 release "Motherf**ckers Be Trippin'", is stellar, and "Killer Weed" rocks out. "The Sauce" is just right.

If you look at the covers for Eddie Spaghetti's two albums side by side it's really disturbing.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Sauce (Audio CD)
I tried ordering the original version of this cd, The Sauce, three different times...each time I received EXTRA Sauce, which is the version with Mickey Raphael's over-the-top harmonica tracks laid in all over every song. Mickey may be a good player, but Eddie's original Sauce release stands tall (and much better) all on its own, sans the cheesy harmonica. The pic of the cd cover says The Sauce, but beware that you'll probably receive Extra Sauce if you order this product. The good news is that Amazon makes returns easy!

Then you need to buy them both, buy this album, sit back, turn up the tunes, and get your drinking on! These tunes were made to drink to. Good covers and hell, Killer Weed is one of the best songs about Marijuana ever!

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, April 14, 2004
This review is from: The Sauce (Audio CD)
Brilliant. As a yankee who has loved country music for the last few years, it is hard for me to find singers or groups that are doing the music in the raw honest fashion I enjoy. Not only does Eddie perform these songs honestly and beautifully, but by performing mostly covers he shows a listener like myself other musicians I should check out. A great, beautiful, and honest album.

Any man who can get such a tasty bird for his wife, then get her to pose for such a photo is a genius!
If you are (or have ever been) a drunkered, spending your hard earned cash on whisky, beer and women, and waking up on Mon morning with nothing to show for it, this is the album for you!

Go and buy it, and keep the genuis of Eddie hitting the gravel for the near future!
