My first pair of Hurricanes were the light blue/white ones. I have just gotten my 2nd pair in the black and silver.
These shoes are very durable and I found them to be very comfortable. They have held up well with no visible wear, though I ONLY use them on the treadmill and don't know what track or trail running would do to them. I have flat feet that pronate when I run. These keep my arches stable. I should note that I have terrible knees-- knees that should have had surgery 11 yrs ago (orthopedic surgeon recommendation!). I have never been able to run daily without knee pain until I got these shoes. I run at least every other day for 30 minutes and the first pair lasted me 6 months... that's pretty good considering their mileage! These are highly recommended if you have pronation and joint problems!! UPDATE: I have recently purchased the new Hurricane 11. While they are extra cushioned I would warn someone with feet that are flat (like mine) that these are uncomfortable on your arches. I came off the treadmill with blisters in my arch. The new ones fit much snugger and I felt like my feet were being squeezed lifeless... I do not have wide feet but an average width). I will stockpile the Hurricane 10's as they are much better for flat feet.

THE ONLY SHOE FOR ME!,
By
This review is from: Saucony Women's ProGrid Hurricane 10 Running Shoe (Apparel)
I have high arches and bad knees. After no longer being able to buy the latest sale tennis shoe for just $40 (usually New Balance), I went to a runner's store and had the employee fit me with a shoe. This was the one. She suggested they be replaced about ever 3-4 months BEFORE my knees started hurting. They were expensive there ($130), but way cheaper than the orthapedist I'd be heading to if I didn't take good care of myself into my late 30's. I've now been through 3 pairs and it's time to buy my fourth pair. I love them! I used to run, but now walk with an occassional run several times per week, about 4 miles each time. Hope this helps someone.

The worst pair of Saucony Hurricanes I have ever owned. This is my 6th pair of Hurricane; The X's are a poor comparison of the V's and 8's of the past. They are very uncomfortable and the arch lock causes pain after just a few miles due to it's poor design. Not worth the high price. If this is what Saucony (StrideRite) considers improvements, this is definetly my last pair!!

This shoe is amazing! I'm training for a 25k trail run and a half marathon and I never thought it was possible to run that far...until I found the right shoe and the right training program for me. Of course, as with any distance training, the shoe can't do it alone, I also found a great running insert at Lady Foot Locker to go with it. The shoe/insert combo makes me feel like I'm running on a cloud!
I'm even more stoked that I found such a great deal at Amazon...since these shoes are NOT cheap! LOL

This company stole my money,
This review is from: Saucony Women's ProGrid Hurricane 10 Running Shoe (Apparel)
I bought shoes from this vendor, Shoes on The Web. I returned them via the USPS because they did not fit. The company would not credit me my refund for my return, claiming they never received the shoes. I put my return address on the package, and never received them back, as I would have if Shoes on The Web had not received them. Do not buy from this company!!!!!!!!!

Best shoe for flat, moderately overpronating feet,

I have tried the highly recommended Brooks shoes, the Asics Gel shoes, and other versions of Sauconys, but the Progrid Hurricane suits me best. I normally wear a size 9.5, but I buy them 1/2 size larger, a 10B, and they fit well with a wide toe box that does not give me blisters. I have them in black and white/blue combinations. They look good and wear well. I will stay with Saucony Progrid Hurricanes because they let me work hard without any pain.

Great shoe for wide-footed pronaters!,

I just got my second pair of Hurricanes (I had version 8 before, these are 10) and I love them! They fit me perfectly, just as the last pair did. I have triangle-shaped feet (narrow heel, wide toe spread) and these are the best fitting shoe I've found that don't squeeze my toes together or slip off my heels. I also have a knee injury so I have to wear custom orthotics in my shoe, and these accommodate my orthotics, and add extra stability as well. They're not heavy and they are really pretty too. Even though I have wide toes, the toe of the shoe comes to a nice point, which makes my feet look more normal :-) I didn't order a half-size up as other reviewers said they did, but I do think these shoes are a little roomy for their size -- which is perfect for me. My last pair lasted 2 years so I hope these will too!

I have wide feet and have loved all the Hurricane models until the Progrid Hurricane 10. The toe box is significantly narrower then earlier models and the laces are thin and cheap. I returned the 10's and was able to find a pair of Hurricane 7's.

I have been wearing the Hurricane for years. These shoes seem to run bigger than past Hurricane shoes, so I took the advice of another review and got a size smaller than past shoes and it worked well for me.I am training for a half marathon and ordered three pair. Price was right so I can rotate two pair as I train and have a new pair for the race.

This is a great version of the Hurricane. They are quite light and comfortable, however, I would order *only* 1/2 size up from your normal shoe size, as this particular shoe runs large. Usually, I wear a size 6 street shoe and size 7 Saucony (Hurricane) - but I had to send the 7s back for 6 1/2s - which fit quite nicely.
A bit too silvery in color for my taste, but I think the fit matters slightly more than the aesthetic, for me anyway. |
