I sew home decor projects from time to time, and this desk works well for me. It does not have a lot of storage, but it stores my sewing machine, a few sewing books and 1 sewing basket and a few other notions. The rest of my scraps of fabric, batting, etc I store in my closet. I like that part of the top folds down, so that the desk becomes smaller allowing me to tuck it into the corner of the bedroom when not in use. When I want to use it, it has wheels on the bottom that make it easy to move. The surface space I find to be sufficient. The surface is heat resistant, but is not meant to be used as a cutting surface. The desk looks nicer than I thought it would, and I even really like the hardware. Although I should mention that I think the wood is slightly darker in person than in the picture.

Lastly, I found this desk at Walmart online for $89 (+S&H + Tax), or in the store for $99 (+Tax). I went to Walmart and bought this in person for considerably less than you can buy this on Amazon or Target.

Walmart has the same sewing & Craft Cart for only $75.00. Its a good buy and has a reasonable amount of storage.

This item is entirely particle board & sells at under half this price at your local "W-Mart". Assembly takes about 2 hours, incl all hardware. It's quite heavy. It looks nice (take care with the surface, mine scratched easily during assembly) once done & from a modest distance. It also is fine if you don't want something that's real wood or high quality, or don't want to spend a lot. I just wouldn't spend THIS much. Buyer beware.

I love this sewing cabinet. I have relocated it to different rooms easily depending on the season. It's quite sturdy and was reasonably easy to assemble if you do that type of thing (wouldn't as a novice because of hinges and hanging the doors). One thing not shown in the pictures is that the left half of the table top folds down when the door is closed, making this cabinet fairly compact when not in use, and attractive to leave out on the side of a room. Note that the left side of the table can ONLY be used if the door is open. The door is the supporting leg. The door has a rolling foot always in contact with the floor, keeping the top level without putting undue pressure on the door hinges. Nice design. There is a decent latch that will keep the door from accidentally coming out from under table, so no worries about the project being dropped to the floor. The shelf underneath will fit most sewing machines easily, and is open backed for easy access to outlets. Quite functional and sturdy for a relatively inexpensive piece of furniture.

I'm fairly new to sewing and live in an apartment so needless to say, there isn't a lot of room for my sewing machine and sewing/craft things in general. This seemed perfect for all my storage needs although I wasn't in love with the color. Well it shipped quickly and was packaged excellently.. AND the color in the official photos seem off, or maybe I just got lucky.. but mine is a bit richer/darker in color and looks great.

It was fairly easy to assemble for my husband and I (mostly him doing the work). It looks great and is so easy to move around, even with everything inside of it. The pockets on the doors also have removable separators to suit whatever you may want to put in them. I love that once it's all closed up, it looks decorative. It's a lot more sturdy than I thought it would be as well. Maybe I'll upgrade one day, but for now.. and for awhile, this will be perfect for me.

9/26/09- This sewing/craft center is exactly what I needed. It's not too big and neatly stores everything behind closed doors to keep a toddler out. I think the best part is it doesn't look like a sewing or craft center. The assembly instructions are pretty easy to follow (all you get are pictures), although make sure to pay close attention to which way a piece if facing because if it's backwards, you won't likely notice until you're almost done and it's WAY too late to fix it. Rather than solid wood, this is made of pressed wood, which makes it virtually impossible to undo anything during the assembly process. I still rate this product 5 stars because I love the hidden storage and the fold up arm that almost doubles the work space.

10/4/10- A year later & I still love this craft desk. It's holding up great and I removed one of the plastic bins on the door and attached one of those wooden thread spool racks. Now ALL my thread is neatly stored on the swing out door. I added a smaller rack on the cabinet door for bobbins. I adjusted the shelves so I can fit my serger inside the cabinet too. This thing has tons of space! I'm moving to a new house this month...we'll see how the pressed wood holds up.

7/4/13- 4 years later...this cabinet is still holding up and working great!

I needed something that wasn't an eye sore for my Cricut. I wanted this to be in our sunroom, so out in the open for our company to see. When I found this online, i had to have it! I found it at Fleet Farm for $119. My husband assembled it in under an hour. He commented that this was the sturdiest piece of furniture that he has ever put together...and we have assembled a lot. He said all the pieces matched up, so there was no wiggling to try to make things work. So for $119, this is MORE than worth the money. The shelf on the bottom in the middle section, is a PERFECT fit for my cricut when i want it put away. the little storage bins on the door, fit two cartridges in each section. i think there are 4 sections on each shelf. the shelves on the right side, are perfect for paper. if you are tight on space and need a desk for a cricut....this is a MUST HAVE! it's like it was made for it. way to go Sauder!!
