Editorial Reviews

Review

"This is a nursing text book to end all text books as this is so comprehensive and the chapters are well set out and it does not take the reader long to navigate around the book...This is written especially for the nursing students to pass the NCLEX-PN exam. It is still a valuable resource for the nursing student in the UK. As this is so comprehensive, this is a book to refresh the newly qualified nurse and would be a valuable resource in any nursing university or hospital library."

More About the Author

As a child, I always dreamed of becoming either a nurse or teacher. Initially, I chose to become a nurse because I wanted to help others, especially those who were ill. Then I realized that both of my dreams could come true: I could be both a nurse and a teacher. So I pursued my dreams.
I received my diploma in nursing at Cooley Dickinson Hospital School of Nursing in Northampton, Massachusetts. Afterwards, I worked at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts and cared for clients in acute medical-surgical units, the intensive care unit, the emergency department, pediatric units, and other acute care units. Later, I received an associate degree from Holyoke Community College in Holyoke, Massachusetts, my BSN from American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts, and my MSN from Anna Maria College, Paxton, Massachusetts, with a dual major in Nursing Management and Patient Education. I received my PhD candidacy status in Nursing at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and I am doing research related to success on the NCLEX®. I am also a member of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, Phi Kappa Phi, Golden Key International Honour Society, the Western Institute of Nursing, and the Eastern Nursing Research Society.
As a native of Springfield, Massachusetts, I began my teaching career as an instructor of medical-surgical nursing and leadership-management nursing at Baystate Medical Center School of Nursing in 1981. In 1989 I relocated to Rhode Island and began teaching medical-surgical nursing and psychiatric nursing to RN and LPN students at the Community College of Rhode Island. Later in 1994, I began teaching nursing at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island and remain there as an adjunct faculty member.
My experiences as a student, nursing educator, and item writer for the NCLEX exams, aided me as I developed a comprehensive review course to prepare nursing students and graduates for the NCLEX examination. In 1991, I established Professional Nursing Seminars, Inc., and in 2000, I established Nursing Reviews, Inc. Both companies are dedicated to conducting review courses for the NCLEX-RN and the NCLEX-PN examinations and assisting nursing graduates to achieve their goals of becoming Registered Nurses and/or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses.
Today, I conduct review courses for the NCLEX examinations throughout New England and am the author of numerous successful review products published by Elsevier. I hope that you will use these review products and join me with your journey to success in testing for nursing examinations and for the NCLEX® examination!

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST! Use it throughout nursing school & for nclex! December 3, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Used 4 different review manuals to study for NCLEX. Saunders blows all others out of the water! Once I took the nclex, I knew why it is such a popular review book; Questions are worded most closely to actual nclex. The CD is invaluable! USE THIS BOOK THROUGHOUT NURSING SCHOOL TO HELP WITH YOUR EXAMS, you won't be disappointed. This review helps you understand how to answer & use NURSE LOGIC. The very best rationales of all I used. I got 85 questions & passed ncles first time

5.0 out of 5 stars Money well spent June 28, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I bought this new version, and I don't regret the money I spent on it, even if it does not have a CD, but the rationale is incredible, besides it tells you where to find the most important points, e.g those questions you will find in NCLEX exam.
I will recommend this book to every person who is in LPN/LVN program.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's informative, worth every penny August 3, 2012

Format:Paperback
It's a great studying tool! The website is on the book cover, once you register the code, the materials found are very valuable. Plus additional MP3 audio lectures on medications and so on and so forth. I can honestly say, for a book that costs under $50. It does all it's worth and more.

5.0 out of 5 stars I PASSED MY NCLEX April 17, 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I purchased this book to study for my NCLEX PN. I only used the access code that came with the book to study for my test. I never read the book. The access code has over 4000 questions and lets you even choose what subject you want to have questions. I did 50-100 questions everyday and took notes on every single question with the answer- that night or the next morning i would review everything i wrote down. I did this for 6 weeks. I highly recommend you use this item to study for your nclex PN. I wish I would have known about this while in nursing school - it could have helped me alot. I passed my NCLEX first try with 85 questions and this is the only item I used plus a lot of prayers to God and it helped alot. Best of luck; I hope this review helps you.
