More About the Author

As a child, I always dreamed of becoming either a nurse or teacher. Initially, I chose to become a nurse because I wanted to help others, especially those who were ill. Then I realized that both of my dreams could come true: I could be both a nurse and a teacher. So I pursued my dreams.
I received my diploma in nursing at Cooley Dickinson Hospital School of Nursing in Northampton, Massachusetts. Afterwards, I worked at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts and cared for clients in acute medical-surgical units, the intensive care unit, the emergency department, pediatric units, and other acute care units. Later, I received an associate degree from Holyoke Community College in Holyoke, Massachusetts, my BSN from American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts, and my MSN from Anna Maria College, Paxton, Massachusetts, with a dual major in Nursing Management and Patient Education. I received my PhD candidacy status in Nursing at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and I am doing research related to success on the NCLEX®. I am also a member of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, Phi Kappa Phi, Golden Key International Honour Society, the Western Institute of Nursing, and the Eastern Nursing Research Society.
As a native of Springfield, Massachusetts, I began my teaching career as an instructor of medical-surgical nursing and leadership-management nursing at Baystate Medical Center School of Nursing in 1981. In 1989 I relocated to Rhode Island and began teaching medical-surgical nursing and psychiatric nursing to RN and LPN students at the Community College of Rhode Island. Later in 1994, I began teaching nursing at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island and remain there as an adjunct faculty member.
My experiences as a student, nursing educator, and item writer for the NCLEX exams, aided me as I developed a comprehensive review course to prepare nursing students and graduates for the NCLEX examination. In 1991, I established Professional Nursing Seminars, Inc., and in 2000, I established Nursing Reviews, Inc. Both companies are dedicated to conducting review courses for the NCLEX-RN and the NCLEX-PN examinations and assisting nursing graduates to achieve their goals of becoming Registered Nurses and/or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses.
Today, I conduct review courses for the NCLEX examinations throughout New England and am the author of numerous successful review products published by Elsevier. I hope that you will use these review products and join me with your journey to success in testing for nursing examinations and for the NCLEX® examination!

This is far and above the best book for LPN students. I checked out many books from the library and then found this one. The book is broken down into systems with a great review of that system before the questions. The disc is set up with numerous ways to take tests and from former LPN students, it is similar to the actual NCLEX.

Used 4 different review manuals to study for NCLEX. Saunders blows all others out of the water! Once I took the nclex, I knew why it is such a popular review book; Questions are worded most closely to actual nclex. The CD is invaluable! USE THIS BOOK THROUGHOUT NURSING SCHOOL TO HELP WITH YOUR EXAMS, you won't be disappointed. This review helps you understand how to answer & use NURSE LOGIC. The very best rationales of all I used. I got 85 questions & passed ncles first time

I sooo wanted to do this review! Because I rely on customer reviews, I totally bought this book after reading the reviews. A little about me, I worked fulltime through nursing school, and I am a single father. I honestly slept through lectures and I concentrated on my clinicals. And I couldn't have passed my exams without this book! It definitely is comprehensive! And it's the one and only book you need. I passed my nclex on first try, passed my lecture exams, and there's no way I would have truly have done it without this book. How did I use this book? Good question. I didn't use the book! (You probably think I am crazy, but keep reading) I solely used the cd that came with the book. I honestly did every question on all the chapters on that cd. It's the best study tool and its very easy to use and follow. To me it was the better than reading the book. And by the way, I only used the study tab. I haven't done the quizzes or the exams. As you study, make sure you click on the rational and strategies. I truly enjoyed clicking on the rationals and strategies on all my study questions, and it didn't matter whether I got it right or wrong. The rationals explain better than any lecture teacher can. And yes, you read that correctly!:-) . The rationals covers more than the specific question at hand. It opens you to a wider knowledge base, and the strategies would definitely help you on your nclex! please buy this book! It has saved my life. I am continueing my nursing education, and continue to rely on Saunders. Good luck, and please make you write an honest review on all your purchases. It truly helps. And again, good luck!

Amazon was the quickest and least expensive way to obtain this book. It was even a better value than buying it used elsewhere! My daughter passed her exam without breaking a sweat, because she felt she was well prepared thanks to the book.
