5.0 out of 5 stars a Thrilling action-packed book August 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
With the release of Savage Bay, the author has created a master piece, which combines the genres of science fiction and adventure. I love when a to me unknown author writes at the same quality level of the big players such as Tom Clancy, and interestingly, this book even wears a little bit of Koontz signature writing style.

When you start this book, there is no time to do something else, as the events demand your full attention. The story reads like a high speed bullet train, with outings to ancient understandings and facts. Just like the author's book THE GENESIS CODE, this is one of those books any vivid reader should have on their Kindle.

Besides the fast-paced well-constructed story line, the author has included deep-going dialogues, which provides the reader with a detailed description of the traits and habits of the personalities if the main characters. To be, it felt as if I was sucked into the story as a by stander who played an occasional role in the events. This rarely happens to me when I read a novel.

My recommendation is to pick a day, and start reading this book in one sitting. Switch off Facebook and your Cellphone and dedicate your full being to this thrilling read. Make sure you have some treats and fluids nearby, because even with only 354 pages to read, you will be busy for a while.

Since I also read THE GENESIS CODE, I was very pleased to see the author has further developed his composition style. I am looking forward to reading future works, and will probably read some of his older works, too.

2.0 out of 5 stars Full of inaccuracies September 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This book was very engaging at first and full of action but verges on science fiction. However parts of the book read like a Tom Clancy book without the research. Things like a double barrel pump shotgun, F-16s launching torpedoes, and submarines getting blown up with sidewinders are too close to real world without actually being accurate. (Double barrel shotguns are not pump action, F-16s fly too fast to launch a torpedo, and sidewinders are air to air missiles) Had it been further over the sci-fi line the author could have made up his own fantasy weapons and not needed any realism. As it is written there are too many of these to ignore and it really detracts from the book. Some plot elements are confusing and don't have explanation or occasionally even have relevance. For that matter I keep wondering why don't the bad guys just shoot Titan Six and be done with it? My only explanation is that there wouldn't be much of a book if that we're too happen. It ends up being like a good spy movie that you really want to like if it weren't so cheesy.

1.0 out of 5 stars So bad I can't not write this review October 24, 2012

I don't have high expectations of a book I could read for free on my Kindle but this book didn't even meet my low standards. I stopped reading about halfway through. I really don't want to spoil it for those who do want to read it, but the dealbreaker for me were two combats in a row which I couldn't suspend disbelief for. One of them was complete nonsense (minor spoiler, it involved ducking), and the one after that was just implausible.

Not a dealbreaker, but there was also some cringeworthy dialog and unspired names/callsigns, but those are kind of expected.

Usually I just breeze through a book like this, shrug and give it three stars, but this one I couldn't finish. One star.

Tastes obviously vary, but as a Sci-FI and military fan I found this tedious and repetitive. Gives airport Noel's a bad name.

Having read Bones of Angles first may have made this not as exciting since I enjoyed the later so much. Both were well worth reading. This one just had a lot of technical lingo.
