Say What?,
By A Customer
This review is from: Savage Cut (Mass Market Paperback)
The short editorial review of Savage Cut by Ingram has a couple errors. Ruby was divorced from her daughter's father when he was killed in the automobile accident which injured her daughter, so Ruby is not a widow. She was a receptionist for a private investigator who recognized her special talent and obtained training in graphology for her. She was not a graphologist for the LAPD.I have loved Dereske's Miss Zukas' novels and am interested in this series as well though I do have problems with it. The motivation behind Ruby's friend's actions--her marriages, her affairs, her secrets--just didn't ring true. The descriptions of the daughter's condition and therapy are fascinating.

Savage cut,

Good read. Highly recommended for those into "light" mysteries. Though I still prefer the Miss Zukas series. But then again, I am biased as I live in Washington state and am a librarian...

a jo dreske mystery without miss zukas is sad.however, after you have read all the librarian books, this is fun.it is a light, well plotted mystery.

This is a very good mystery. The descriptions of the area of evocative, the characters are sympathetic, and the mystery is believable. I did have trouble with Ruby's friend whose murder Ruby was so determined to investigate. She was the character that seemed flat and was certainly unappealing. The Kindle version I read wasn't badly done but it could have used better proofreading and formatting.
While this seems to be the beginning of a new mystery series I will follow, it would be a shame if the author didn't continue her Miss Zukas series too. |
