They got guitars and they know how to play 'em!,

I had always heard about this LP but until this recent reissue I had yet to hear this LP. From the opening notes of "Thing in "E" my hair was standing on end. This is some of the most spellbinding psychedelic guitar rock ever. The classy mastered sound and packaging courtesy of Mod Lang and Alex Palao does this band and this release the justice it deserves. Highly recommended!!

I have listened to many obscure and popular groups from the 60's, but I never listened to their music before. This is Solid Rock with Blues/Jazz. This CD is solid from start to finish. If you love 60's R&R this CD is a must.

A fabulous example of 1960's "acid-rock!",

I'm glad to see that Amazon now carries the Mod Lang, band-authorized CD instead of the previous "where in the heck did this come from" imported version. This re-issue is one of the best examples of 1960's psychedelic "garage band" rock and roll that abounded in the San Francisco Bay Area during that musical heyday. I spent most of my high school days following this band around because I, like many others, considered them to be the epitome of 60's rock. The dueling guitars of Randy Hammon and John Palmer will bring to mind the talents of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and other stylists of the era as the drums of Jeff Myer provide the incredible canvas on which Randy and John perform their art. Bassist Steve Lage and vocals by Bill Harper complete this amazing picture of acid-rock with brilliant tones of rhythm and blues. This stuff is gold! Hall of Fame thanks right back at ya, Randy!

I think it rocks!,

One thing about the 'net is that everybody has an opinion(like a certain body part). I appreciate everyone has a view, but I get a bit irritated with reviews when they are more of a "gee, look how cool I am that I can have really strong opinions and trash something". Taking it for what it is, plenty of people that have listened to every possible bit of psyche music love this album and virtually every professional reviewer of 60's psyche hold it in high esteem. It may not be your cup of tea, but to call it terrible is just unfair.

Savage Resurrection - self-titled (Mod Lang),

Appears to be the obscure psych / garage Richmond, CA band's only lp. Where has this out-standing psychedelic gem been hiding all these years? Songs that more than makes this CD a true keeper are the stunning "Talking To You", "Fox is Sick", the gem "Someone's Changing", "Appeal To The Happy" and both edits of the awesome "Thing In E". Here, you get the initial 1968 album + three bonus cuts. Line-up: Randy Hammon and John Palmer - guitar & vocals, Steve Lage - bass, Bill Harper - percussion & vocals and Jeff Myers (Charlie Daniels, Jesse Colin Young, Terry & The Pirates) - drums. Highly recommended for fans of the Open Mind, Kaleidoscope - both the U.S. and UK bands, Thirteenth Floor Elevators, The Litter and Andromeda. Be sure to see their video on You Tube for their 2008 reunion. Very nice.

Savage Cheer,

Being into the mid-late 60's San Fran Sound, I had picked up an original 68' copy on Mercury. I must admit the colorful paisley-like psych cover caught my eye, and thought the grooves within contained some real groovy material. The LP is produced by Abe Kesh of Blue Cheer fame and the album was a major label debut for this half American-Indian outfit. Well, although it is lacking in the songwriting dept. and the vocals leave more to be desired, the guitar work is fuzz drenched and is pure acid. The album holds up as being a period piece to an era long gone and missed. Not as heavy as Blue Cheer or as technically executed as their peers Quicksilver Messenger Service (Cipollina taught the guitar player) or The Frumious Bandersnatch, this rare LP is sought after among collectors and the music is decent late 60's west-coast psych rock. They enjoyed about a year of fame before dissolving just like a pure hit of some great Owsley acid. Enjoy!

This CD issue (ML007) gives you the 10 track original album plus 3 previously unreleased versions/ tracks with extensive & informative liner notes by Alec Palao, who included a Savage Resurrection track on the Grammy nominated LOVE IS THE SONG WE SING: SAN FRANCISCO NUGGETS 1965-1970 box set. Terrible!,

Who are you people trying to fool? This album is horrible! This is one of the worst rarities I've ever purchased aside from Eden's Children. Tahitian Melody is the only solid song on this record that conjures up a spacy atmosphere. The rest of the tunes are in the acid rock/garage rock vein. These songs lack the hooks and lyrics to compete with the better garage bands of the time. At times, the faceless garage rock has solid, tight playing but that is not saying much. This album is to be avoided at all costs unless one is a completist.
