4.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read
This book was suspensful to the end. I like a book that has lots of curves in the road, but then all comes together at the end. This was book was great!!

Although I found this book romantic, as all Ms. Edwards books, I thought the characters were a bit too hard-edged and judgmental. 3.0 out of 5 stars Fair, June 30, 2001
Although I found this book romantic, as all Ms. Edwards books, I thought the characters were a bit too hard-edged and judgmental. I, in particular, found it difficult to believe that Becky could suddenly fall in love with Blazing Eagle after being held captive. Although she wasn't mistreated necessarily by him, she was forced to stay outside the entire time. I also found it hard to forgive Blazing Eagle for forcing Becky out later in the book when his memories of his family's massacre came to him, and he saw Becky's blond hair as too much a reminder of the woman in his nightmares. Even when he realized his mistake and took her back, I felt he didn't apologize enough and Becky was a bit too forgiving. But the romance was satisfying, if you are willing to overlook these points!

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful, October 6, 2011
I had high hopes for this author, but I could barely get through this book. Ms. Edwards needs to be instructed on the difference between a period and an exclamation point. (FYI, Ms. Edwards, they ARE NOT interchangeable.) It seemed nearly every sentence ended with an exclamation point. It was exhausting to read. Where the heck was her editor?

One would think that with the sheer volume of books that Cassie Edwards published, she would learn a thing or two along the way. In this story, yet another beautiful white woman is kidnapped by yet another chief. The dialogue is again stilted and awkward in some parts, and ellipses are abused. There are also a few awkward descriptions in the sex scenes, and since there's so many of them across the Savage books, they get so repetitive that I actually find myself skimming across them because the same thing always happens, they experience great passion, etc etc.

The ending was rather unrealistic with Rebecca Veach's mother. It was just basically a deux es machina to wrap up the story. At the back of the book is a picture of Snow Deer, Ms. Edwards' great-grandmother. In the picture, Snow Deer is fat and rather unhappy-looking. This book is a prequel to Savage Longings which features Snow Deer as the main character. Overall I can;t really recommend this book or its sequel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Savage Secrets, February 1, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Savage Secrets (Paperback)
I enjoyed this book. It is the first Cassie Edwards book I have read. The only problem I have with her books(I am starting another one) is the cover. If the men depicted are Indians then what does a white maled look like. The pictures from history books I have read and seen the Indians do not have such white features and I have always thought the pictures on the book were there to give a representation of the charaters in the book. If Blazing Eagle is an Indian based on the cover I am very confused. Leave out the pictures and let the reader envision what the charaters look like if the depiction can't be any better than what it is on the cover. Thanks
