Great Album!,

So, you're wondering whether you want to risk buying a cd from a band that you haven't heard anything from, huh? I totally feel your pain.
I took a risk and bought Mystic Prophecy's Never-Ending cd and thought "This is not a bad cd". There's definitely a few cool songs on that cd. When I heard that MP had a new cd coming out, I went to their website and listened to a mere sample off of Savage Souls and decided that I HAD to have this cd ASAP. This cd is absolutely amazing. I don't really want to attempt to describe the sound, but I'm more than happy to list some other cds I own that I rank as high and you can decide if you want to take the risk (although it's a no-brainer to me). 5 Star CDs that rank as High: Blind Guardian - A Night at the Opera Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor Kamelot - The Black Halo Iced Earth - The Dark Saga Elvenking - The Winter Wake

Finnest Power Metal!!!,
This review is from: Savage Souls (Audio CD)
This band have a great and very important thing that makes a difference between him and the others bands. This difference is R.D. Liapakis, the vocal and producer. If you are a fan of Power Metal you've already listen a band called Valley's Eve, don't you? Yes, fantastic vocal and production...why? Because is the same guy, Mr. Liapakis. This play is the fourth for the band and for me the best them all. Check it out, like the others three MP plays and Valley's Eve plays too!

Mystic Prophecy's finest hour,

This is the only Mystic Prophecy album I own. But I've heard clips and even full songs from all their other albums, and I'm convinced that "Savage Souls" is their best work.
It appears that after the departure of guitar virtuoso Gus G., the band worked even harder than before, resulting in an album unmatched before or since. (A similar situation happened a few years earlier with Iron Savior and their masterpiece Condition Red.) This album is jam-packed with one great song after another: "Shadows Beyond My Soul", "Master of Sins", "Evil Empires", "Savage Souls", the list goes on and on. This is one of those rare albums where picking the highlights results in nearly the entire track list. Musically this is fast, heavy, and aggressive, yet still melodic. And R.D. Liapakis is a great singer who can actually SING (although he does indulge in a death metal growl at the beginning of "Evil Empires"). Fans of power, thrash, melodic death, or even traditional metal should check out this album. |
