5.0 out of 5 stars CLASSICAL CONTEMPORY AT ITS BEST, November 29, 2009
This review is from: Savage Tongue (Audio CD)
What an amazing CD! A beautiful mix of classical and contempory with soaring choruses, tasty intense strings, a sizzling orchestra, an undercurrent of a rhythm section that never overplays its part yet adds immense depth all add up to a perfect addition to my Classical Contemporary collection...and, to yours.

My only regret is that some of the cuts, maddeningly, are too short. I'd have liked for the composers/performers to have extended the many pieces into longer cuts, so that the full range of each piece could be expanded. But, all are magnificent, "Lamentoso"(Of the two, I prefer the choral version), "Sanguine", "Hosanna", "Belgorad" and "Pastoral".

Add this CD to your collection and you'll have many hours of enjoyable listening!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Really Enjoyable Cycle of Epic Music, August 1, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Savage Tongue (Audio CD)
Though the somewhat lurid cover art and the title make this CD sound like it might be a heavy metal album, it's anything but. The 21 tracks on "Savage Tongue" range from pieces that sound like they were taken from an epic movie (such as the "Lord of the Rings") to dramatic choral pieces, all of which are fairly described as "contemporary classical." The album as a whole hangs together quite well, and it's a pleasure to listen to it from beginning to end. If you enjoy epic soundtracks or classical works like Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana," you should give "Savage Tongue" a close listen.

If you enjoy this type of music, you might want to have a look at my Listmania list entitled "Epic Music: 'Trailer,' 'Position,' 'Cue,' 'Cinematic Rock' and Beyond."
