Biography

Soulfly incite a musical uprising on Enslaved, their eighth album for Roadrunner Records.

This time around, the heavy metal tribe treads extreme territory by incorporating blast beats, violent riffs and wheezing whammy squeals into its patented groove-driven war cry. All of those elements converge within a concept record about slavery—a first for legendary frontman Max Cavalera ... Read more in Amazon's Soulfly Store

Max Cavalera is simply one of the GREATEST METAL singers EVER!!!!!
Fluminense
All things considered, this is a good and solid Soulfly album from start to finish, and it doesn't really need to be anything else.
North Gate
I'm a huge Soulfly fan and this completes all my Max Cavalera albums.

You know what it's like to have those one or two good friends who you hang out with all the time? Week in and week out, you sit around and watch a game with them, or take a run to the mall, or sometimes do nothing but just relax and have conversation. Sometimes it all gets a bit familiar, and sometimes your buddies tell the same stories you've heard before, but you'd take their company over anyone else's just about any day of the week. If you know that feeling, welcome to the new Soulfly album.

Soulfly will absolutely not be accused of breaking any new ground on "Savages", which is fine by me, as I'm a fairly simple guy who just wants a good metal album. Now, I can admit that at first I wasn't altogether blown away by this one, but it's grown on me a great deal after a handful of spins. This CD delivers the familiar, but as is always the case with Max's projects, the songs all sound new, not rehashed. In keeping with the general path he's followed since "Dark Ages", this album is on the heavier side of the band's overall output, if not continuing the blistering pace of "Enslaved", at least reassuring fans of old Sepultura that Max has not returned to the nu-metal leanings of "Roots" through the first few Soulfly releases.

Max enjoyed terrific reviews for last year's "Enslaved", in large part because of its brutal nature and the machine-like drumming of Dave Kinkade. After Kinkade's retirement from music, Max enlisted his son Zyon to sit behind the kit for "Savages", which has both good and bad points. On the one hand, it's cool to hear the child whose heartbeat begins the "Chaos A.D." album playing drums on his dad's newest CD, and Zyon can definitely deliver some heavy grooves, as well as an occasional Igor-inspired performance like on "This Is Violence".

Well this album was not at all what i was expecting, its the follow up to enslaved, the heaviest soulfly record to date. When i first listend it wasnt that i didnt like it just more of a surprise. This album is heavy but it has more of a groove metal style to it than before. Max's son zyon cavalera takes over on drums and definetly fullfills. the stand out tracks in my
opinion are fallen, K.C.S., cannibal holocaust, and soulfliktion. But i like every song on the album and it gets better and better with every listen i definetly recomend picking this up.

It was missing two tracks: "F@#$ reality" and "soulfly instrumental" This album is heavy. It is filling my Slayer gap while King and Tom regroup.

This item came in quick as can be!! Packaging was awesome as well. I'm a huge Soulfly fan and this completes all my Max Cavalera albums. The cd itself is not a let down, which Soulfly has not let me down yet live or on a recording for that matter. Buy this album and jam hard!

Max Cavalera is simply one of the GREATEST METAL singers EVER!!!!! SAVAGES bring the new THRASH that MAX is creating since DARK AGES, apart from tribal drums and NU METAL influences.....AMAZING!!!!! If you like the kind of METAL Max created on past masterpieces like CONQUER and PROPHECY, you will like SAVAGES too!!!!!WELL DONE, MAX!!!!!!MASTER OF METAL FROM THE JUNGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
