Savannah has always been a "southern-charm" city. Some of it's beauty and history has been preserved by the renewal of interest in it's squares, small parks and cemeteries. This book is a perfect companion depicting the charm of this city-so unique in the busy world of today. Not only is the photography superb, but the accompanying writing is great. A great memory boost for someone who has been to Savannah or a precursor for someone preparing to tour the city. I visited in the mid 1960s and was delighted to see it again! Thanks!

Although you would think this more of a coffee table book, it is a good read and has some beautiful pictures.

Lovely little book for carrying along while touring the squares, but there is no legible map. The tiny print on the shuttle guide is impossible to read.

However, the photos and brief histories are excellent.

I had purchased Savannah Squares and The Savannah Walking Tours and Guidebook AFTER a trip to Savannah to help me identify many of the photos I had taken. I needed a reference that would show clear photos of the squares and statues. Though nicely done with color photographs, many are of pretty flowers that could be anywhere. In place of the flowers, perhaps the author could have included the plaques present in each square? Many of the photos of squares are taken in an obscure part of it of with a tree blocking the view of the statue or fountain. Only about half Savannah's fountains and statues are pictured and many of the photos are taken from quite a distance away. The author chose to put Bonaventure Cemetery as the book's last entry. However, the cemetery is NOT a square. This book was useless in helping me to identify my photos.

Additionally, we thought the maps contained in the book would be helpful on a second trip. They are tiny and many streets have no names. Again, useless. I feel this was a waste of $9.95.
