4.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy them for the color! April 24, 2010
Verified Purchase
The weights are a great addition to the home gym. The design is low profile for handling & stacking. I really wanted the pink & purple colors as advertised. Too my dismay, both the 5 & 7 lb weights are gray. I will be contacting SAVASA to say that this is false advertising.

4.0 out of 5 stars False Colors March 22, 2010
Verified Purchase
I was very happy with the fast shipping I received but was disappointed when I opened the box. I expected my weights to be PINK because I ordered the 10lb dumbbells (5lb each) but they were GRAY!!! Even on the dumbbell packaging it shows that the 10lb weights should be pink....

The workout "DVD" that comes with it was not a full sized CD at all. It is a small CD that is typical for computer use.. it'll still work in a regular DVD player, however, it only enables you to enjoy "all features" if it's used in a computer....I have yet to utilize the DVD because I just got it in the mail today but I'm sure it'll work out just fine. I know I'll enjoy the weights but I wish they were the color the packaging shows they should be.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality control August 7, 2010
By BE Babe
I was really excited to purchase these weights. I was thinking that the unique shape and design would be a 2-for-1 deal, where I could get a 7 lb. set and double them up to use as 14 lbs. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in these weights. First of all, I ordered the 5 lb. and 7 lb. weight sets from Amazon, which are supposed to be pink and purple, respectively. However, both sets were gray. Okay, no big deal. But what I didn't like was the color discrepancies between the weights. It looked like all of the weights came from different color batches. While one weight looked like a certain shade of gray, it's other half was a completely different shade. Some weights even had a yellowish tint that just looked nasty. And no, I don't have a dog that went to town on them. The light gray color didn't hold up well in shipping at all -- every pair I received had black marks or some kind of color stain issue from the packaging. I was hoping that maybe I got a couple of defective or damaged sets, but nope -- I had a total of 4 sets sent to me from Amazon and they all had the same problem. Another issue I discovered with the weights was the neoprene coating -- on some weights it was shiny and on other weights it was matte. I finally got tired of looking at these ugly things and sent them back. Imagine how fun it was to haul 52 lbs. of weights to UPS! I know that weights aren't purchased for their aesthetic appeal, but if I'm going to spend this much money on a product I only want to buy once in my lifetime, I expect decent quality. If you can live with the neoprene and color discrepancy issues, then you'll probably enjoy these weights. If you're even a little picky about the way things look, steer clear of this product.

3.0 out of 5 stars Well made but poorly shaped. April 7, 2012

I have both the 10 lbs set of two 5 lbs weights, and the 14 lbs set of two 7 lbs weights. While they are really well made, they are poorly designed for three major reasons. (unlike some, I don't care about what color they are.)

1) I am a male and am 6' 4" with large hands, but when the two weights are grouped into a single double weight and held in one hand, the double handle is too thick to easily hold in one hand. This is made worse for the reasons described in my other complaints.

2) The ends of the weights are not symmetric so you have a 50% chance of needing to flip one of them to get them to match together. They should be symmetric with a double notch and hole, or a "hill and valley" contour to get them to securely match in any combination. And single hand weights from different sets can not be combined. For example, one 5 lbs and one 7 lbs will not make a 12 lbs weight. The heaver weights are larger so they do not match with the lighter ones.

3) Since the handles are twisted to the right as you go up the handle, it makes it harder to hold the double weights in your right hand. This is because the left thumb can easily prevent the two weights from rotating apart but the right thumb its on the wrong side to prevent them from rotating.

They are sturdy but poorly shaped. They are very good when used in separate hands but can easily be dropped when two are held in one hand. But Amazon did a great job of replacing the 14 lbs set when they arrived damaged from being dropped. I got the replacements in just a few days. Bravo Amazon!

1.0 out of 5 stars Womens hand weights October 1, 2010
By Kayshee
Color Name:7-Pounds Each (Purple)|Verified Purchase
These weren't anything as described. They are not small and I couldn't hold both weights in one hand...which I need to do with my training program. I sent them back and returned to my former style of weights. Maybe they should have women test them before they state Savasa for Women....not.
